@markmanson If you haven’t seen The Prestige, highly recommend—I put that one up there with Memento.

Unpopular opinion: I think Oppenheimer is way overhyped. I thought it was too long, tried to tie together too many storylines and the writing was convoluted and turgid for long stretches. It very much reminded me of a 400-page book that should have been 250 pages but the author has become so successful that nobody wants to tell him it's bad and needs to be edited. The script should have had a good 25% cut out of it. I'm not sure Downey Jr.'s character needed to be in it at all. I'm glad I saw it, but I wouldn't put it in Nolan's top five films, and definitely not top three (that's Dunkirk, Dark Knight and Memento, in some order.) And before shit-posters say anything, I love Nolan's work and I love (good) three hour movies. I have an attention span. This film was good, but it wasn't it -- I think our standards have just become quite low after 10 years of mediocre superhero fare.
