@SherriKEdman I’m the 6th of 7 kids. Age gap between the oldest and youngest is 19 years, and gap between youngest child and oldest grandchild is 5 years. Age gap between oldest and youngest grandchild is almost 20 years and will hopefully get bigger!

When P and I were dating and talking about marriage and kids, the wife in an older married couple told me, "Having had four kids, I recommend you have six." Well, having had six kids, I recommend at least eight. I suspect if you just keep having babies for a long time, the dreadful "baby desert" period between your youngest child and your oldest grandchild should be suitably short. As it is, my youngest is eight years old and I won't have any grandbabies for years yet. Poor planning on our part. I mean, I'm sure I'll have plenty to keep me busy. But still, being All Out of Babies is not an ideal state of affairs. ...or I could just be maudlin because we are moving my 18yo into his college dorm on Wednesday.
