@TheTylerHetu Yeah that runner was safe, video is below. Watch it at 0.25 and hit the space bar when the foot hits the bag and you'll see the ball still in the air. What a travesty to change a correct call to an incorrect one (I umpire HS baseball). youtube.com/watch?v=YMu9K1…

Longmeadow softball has submitted an official appeal for review following Monday’s first round D2 tournament game against North Attleboro. Longmeadow lost 6-5. They are requesting the game be resumed from the moment where they believe an NFHS rule was violated.

@OsSully @s0ymalia Lol. Just say you want to be subsidized by the young generation and break century long tax precedent because you are a special boy. Either pay the tax or move out because you can’t afford it.

Here’s a simple solution. If you don’t like the assessment of your house, you should be allowed to change that assessment to an arbitrarily lower number, provided that you’re required to sell to anyone who offers you say 30% above that number
The Refined Populist@RefinedPopulist

If your 1970’s home is now worth $1M, you’re on the hook for ~$10K/yr. Based entirely on unrealized gains. That’s absurd for the fixed-income elderly. Property taxes SHOULD be abolished for Boomers. But they should be abolished for everyone else too. Property taxes are evil.

@thatfpsguy @s0ymalia Right. It’s impossible to have a good school without taxes. No one has ever heard of such a thing in the real world. And no one has ever heard of a bad school paid for by taxes.

@OsSully @s0ymalia Yawn. What a ridiculous take. If they stopped providing good schools, roads, emergency services, no matter how nice your house looks on the inside/outside, it would go down in value. Be grateful or sell. I don’t give a fuck. You can’t have your cake and eat it too

@horadrimsage @arindube This is like how unregulated Uber drivers lead to horrific outcomes but medallioned taxis are the most customer friendly form of travel.

I'll bite. If healthcare were fully unregulated, in every sense, how would the market fail in an intolerable way. Just at a glance, I see: 1. Unlicensed and untrained medical care leading to horrific and entirely preventable outcomes. 2. Unlicensed and unregulated medical devices . . . Ditto the above. 3. Hospital yo-yo. Beds became regulated because incentives to build too many competing hospitals (at scale) led to a situation where there were too many facilities than could be supported by the local economy. There were periods where there were top few facilities as the local market tried to find a new equilibrium. Is the point then not to have an unregulated healthcare market, but a properly regulated one, in the since that optimizes harm? As weird as phrase as that is.

PSA to libertarian-leaning friends: if you're trying to extol the virtues of the unregulated market, avoid talking about the healthcare sector. It's not gonna work out well for your argument. It just won't.

Property taxes pay for the things people expect to work every day: schools, police, firefighters, roads, snow plows, parks, libraries, water systems, sewers, and emergency services. If you don’t want to pay property taxes, which of those are you willing to give up?

I’m in possession of 4 patentable claims. You would have to torture me to get them. The patents long expired but nobody has replicated these inventions in industry. Thus likely nobody will. You claim I am stealing from you and that I cannot keep this property from you.

@useless_spam @s0ymalia Lmao. Me planting a nice garden makes my house attractive to thieves. True. Thieving commies who want to sate their envy by stealing other people’s homes.

@OsSully @s0ymalia If your house SPECIFICALLY got nicer, then it's more attractive to thieves. Need more $ for cops. If houses GENERALLY got pricier, then the city's workers are being hurt by high rent. Need more $ for teachers and librarians.

@thatfpsguy @s0ymalia It’s a bullshit and retarded argument by envious commie shitbags. If I buy a house and make it nicer so the perceived value is higher, that isn’t a liability I’ve created that now everyone nearby owes the crown more money. That is a service I’ve performed for the community

@s0ymalia I’m fine with anyone creating their own lower than market assessment….. As long as you are willing to sign a contract that you, or whoever inherits your property has a contractual requirement to sell said house for no more than you assessed it at. Perfectly fine with me.

@s0ymalia The 30℅ markup fee should be a transaction tax and go to the State. What you described is known as the Lutsik tax. The Lutsik tax is a variant of the Harberger Tax.

@Gianpattention I’m not opposed to this fundamentally but there’s an information asymmetry between the owner and the state. Only the guys with the structural issue in their basements are going to take this deal
