Here’s a simple solution. If you don’t like the assessment of your house, you should be allowed to change that assessment to an arbitrarily lower number, provided that you’re required to sell to anyone who offers you say 30% above that number

If your 1970’s home is now worth $1M, you’re on the hook for ~$10K/yr. Based entirely on unrealized gains. That’s absurd for the fixed-income elderly. Property taxes SHOULD be abolished for Boomers. But they should be abolished for everyone else too. Property taxes are evil.

When CEOs replace employees with AI, they are signing up for a subscription service that - after whatever introductory price agreed to has expired - has the power to raise the cost of that service at will. And if the company can't pay, everything STOPS.
Corporations are "hiring" AI bots who can in effect set their own salaries. And don't think for a minute that Big Tech won't raise the price as soon as they know you are dependent on them. But don't worry, because if the company cannot afford the ever rising costs for their new AI "workforce", I'm sure Anthropic or whatever AI firm they are contracted to will be happy to take part ownership of the company in exchange for continuing the service.

The worst writing system in the world is Japanese, and it's not close. Even the Japanese are well aware. My childhood friend has worked as a Japanese-to-English translator in and out of Japan for 50 years and has plenty of dire stories.
In the GIF below, there is a scene from Spirited Away in which when the witch removes the second syllable in her name, "Chihiro" is changed to "Sen". Which of course makes no sense because Japanese.
My friend told me of a civil court case in America in which the attorney asked him how to pronounce a certain person's name, and he had to say, "I don't know." The attorney mocked his translation skills, and my friend explained that for much of Japanese Kanji, you cannot know the pronunciation until you hear it spoken, because there are multiple possibilities.

It's also weighted towards post-grad degrees (required for many teaching jobs) - it's *not* the raw average # for all college-educated workers.

We have been fighting oligarchy for several months now. If economic populism alone is going to fix our problems, why do Americans still resoundingly prefer Republicans on the economy?
Economic populism is good but it’s not going to compensate for deficits on other issues. As long as voters think Dems prioritize issues they don’t care about, our economic message will not break through.
