Listening to Dan Morgan talking to Kay Adams… it sounds like they’re going after another offensive playmaker at 19. Talks about what they’ve done to put people around him, but they only really added Metchie.

If the Panthers can draft Jermod McCoy, they should. He can come on slowly with Mike Jack and develop learning behind two of the best ITL.

Seeing the TE discourse for the #Panthers at 19 does bring some valid point. We have to remember that this is a Top-20 selection, and is this type of player worthy of a selection that high. Positional value does come into play, but so does the overall talent discussion.

@_JLC3 I agree that our pool of DT’s isn’t cutting it, but unfortunately we poured a lot of unnecessary resources into IDL last offszn and we need to let those contracts play out

Correct, the player will play. What I’m arguing is that a Spencer Fano, for example, wouldn’t play over Walker, Moton, or either of the guards. In your tweet you alluded to crossing off positions, and the likely candidate is OT. I’d also argue DT is crossed off, along w maybe CB

@Panthers_Mix If I believe the prospect selected at 19 is going to play (as I said I interpreted that quote to mean), that would be an “impact” player. I also didn’t say developmental. Not sure what you’re arguing tbh

Of course, this is all hypothetical and who knows what they’re going to do. Walker was considered a low value contract to come here and play. I think that’s clear from the discourse. I just don’t interpret Canales’ quotes as “we’re drafting a center to then play OT in 2 years”.

I’d disagree with the notion that Fano absolutely wouldn’t play over Walker. Walker was given a very low-dollar contract — way more in line with a backup OT — for one year. If Fano beat Walker in camp, he’d play. Fano also could beat Fortner and play C. Potential shift to OT in year 2, should they choose that path. Again, I’m literally just saying that I view that quote to mean that if a player falls into their lap that they love, they’ll take him and it’ll be with the intention of the player playing.

No… trotting the same inconsistent/mediocre offense on the field come week one is malpractice. XL was a poor selection. Love the dude, but if you can replace him with Tyson or Cooper Jr… you don’t hesitate.

Maybe I’m interpreting this a bit differently than others. I don’t think this is the #Panthers eliminating a position from their realm of possibilities in R1
I think it’s simply saying, “if we draft a player early - we expect them to compete to start, and play a lot”.
