@PopePiusIXStan As lifelong Catholic, & a liturgical moderate, agree with much of this. But not ad orientem. Ad orientem, with vernacular, was the primary motivation of V2 liturgical reform. It’s impersonal & traditional for trad sake (which means qualitatively/symbolically useless).

If Pope Leo XIV wants to make the Novus Ordo more reverent as he says, he should do at least these three things: 1. Restore the Tridentine offertory prayers 2. Use only the Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer 1) 3. Priest always ad orientem

@PopePiusIXStan The Confiteor should be mandatory and the general absolution for venial sins at the beginning of mass should also be taken from the Old Order to the New Order Mass.

I live in Phoenix. There is a very large SSPX priory here. There is a fairly large FSSP parish here. Say magically, overnight, the SSPX closed up shop and everyone migrated over to the FSSP parish. There is no way they could accommodate everyone. There aren’t enough priests. There aren’t enough masses. There aren’t enough pews. The FSSP would need a new church building, add three priests to the priory and build a K-12 school. (The SSPX priory here is actually in a much better position to take in everyone)

@daniel_see1978 The greatest argument against sedevacantism is sedes themselves. Even when you try to have a charitable exchange they can’t help themselves.

If you’re saying that something is impossible, the onus is on you to show that something is contradictory. You haven’t done that. Also, it’s not special pleading. Special pleading is when you make something the exception just because. Clearly God is the exception to many rules being that God is the only member of a class. Also, I gave a second example. If you’re an eternal spirit and also a human being (which would imply a created body) then you have two natures.

@PopePiusIXStan You can’t use the example in question. I am asking if you can provide any other example of a single person having 2 natures. If you can’t your explanation is ad hoc and just special pleading.

People suffer in a nature. For example, in your spiritual nature in the preexistence you didnt become hungry because you didn’t have a body. You’re on earth now and now you do. Same difference with the two natures of Christ.
Thoughtful-Faith@ThoughtfulSaint

@GoWithJordan_ Natures don’t suffer. People do. The syllogism forces you to only have one person. That person either suffers or they don’t. You are conflating categories

@RumianRKS That would be best. But I find that very unlikely.

@PopePiusIXStan That would be a half-trident, which seems to be illogicall. Wouldn't it be better to return to Trident rite instead of making some weird changes in NOM? That's the easiest solution.

In light of the so-called Archbishop of Canterbury's visit to the Vatican, a reminder from Pope Pius XI is in order. @Vitus_osst, you might like this: "So, Venerable Brethren, it is clear why this Apostolic See has never allowed its subjects to take part in the assemblies of non-Catholics: for the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it, for in the past they have unhappily left it.” Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos

@NoImprimaturReq @PopePiusIXStan why do we care about eastern anaphoras in the roman rite? if we imposed the roman canon onto the byzantines, they’d rightfully oppose it.

Well, my physicalism is more about the universe and its contents, so I think we are purely physical organisms. As far as theism, I think God created the world out of nothing and isn’t composed of part, so God isn’t material…but as he stands in causal relation to other physical things, in some sense God is physical…since if you can causally interact you must in some sense be the same kind of thing. Working on a paper on this matter now.

@Rachel4TLM The fact that you have to put the adjective reverent in front of it tells you something is off with the Mass of Paul VI.
