A doctorate in jurisprudence is supposed to signify intellectual rigor, ethical discipline, a grasp of constitutionalism, not a license for verbal hooliganism or the tacit endorsement of violence. To act like a common ruffian while draped in academic regalia is not just hypocrisy; it’s a contemptible prostitution of education. It proves that for some in our political class, a PhD is merely another accessory, a piece of tribal jewelry to be flashed, utterly disconnected from the intellect and integrity it should embody. The only thing they've learned is how to weaponize credentials while dismantling the very fabric of civilized conduct.

URGENT: Botswana cuts electricity to South Africa and closes its borders President Duma Boko has declared a state of emergency and announced drastic measures against South Africa, amid escalating tensions fueled by accusations of xenophobia against Botswana citizens. Among the most striking decisions is the cutoff of electricity to several South African provinces—an unprecedented move that risks worsening the already severe energy crisis in the neighboring country. In addition, the Botswana government has ordered the immediate closure of its borders and demanded the return of all its citizens currently in South Africa. In a firm speech, Duma Boko strongly criticized the treatment of Botswana nationals, recalling his country’s historical support during the struggle against apartheid. "We helped you fight oppression, and today our children are being humiliated."

No one thought of boycotting that event, or refusing to host Ruto? How do you go to get an award for documenting his killings with the killer as guest of honor? How do you plan an event to award people for documenting killings by the state then have the person that ordered the killings as the guest of honor? Nini inaendelea out here?

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Job Masakhue Lukuru Obwaka, a distinguished obstetrician and gynaecologist who gave decades of his life to the health and wellbeing of Kenyan women. His service at The Nairobi Hospital leaves a legacy that will endure long after us. To his family, colleagues, and all who knew him, may you find comfort and strength in this season of grief.

Naivas and Quickmart, there’s something strange happening at your stores that many Kenyans can relate to, but few talk about. How does someone walk into your supermarket, go straight to pick milk, pay at the cashier, and then, on the way out, the theft alarm suddenly goes off? Suddenly, everyone is looking at you. Security stops you. Your bags are searched and even humiliated. And for a moment, you’re standing there trying to prove you’re not a thief. Many Kenyans know that feeling. That confusion. That embarrassment. That anger. And what makes it worse is that in many cases, it’s not even because of anything taken from the supermarket. It could be a book bought elsewhere. Shoes bought online, e.g., at Jumia. Earphones from China Square. Yet the alarm still goes off, and you are the one left embarrassed. So what exactly are these systems detecting? And what do you want Kenyans to wear when going to your supermarkets? Because if items bought legally somewhere else can trigger your alarms, then innocent customers are being humiliated for no reason. And supermarkets have CCTV. You can verify what someone picked and paid for. So why is the first response to search and embarrass the customer instead of checking first? A lot of Kenyans have gone through this and kept quiet because it’s embarrassing. But it keeps happening. Many are traumatized to the point that they even avoid certain stores. This is not just about security. It’s about dignity. And customers deserve better.

US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany. It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.

Mary Ongar asked me to thank every single person who has called, prayed, shared her story and sent whatever little they could to support her. Wonderful people, the response has overwhelmed her emotionally. Today I watched an old woman who had almost lost hope break down in tears because strangers somewhere chose kindness. For the first time in a long time, she feels seen. She feels remembered. She feels loved. She kept saying: “I did not know people still cared.” Some of the amounts sent may look small to others, but to Mary they mean food, dignity, hope and another reason to keep fighting. This has reminded me that humanity is still alive among ordinary Kenyans even when times are hard for everyone. Thank you for proving that compassion still exists. Thank you for refusing to scroll past her pain. Thank you for becoming the answer to a prayer she had carried silently for years. May God bless every hand that gave, every person who shared the message and every soul that stood with Mary Ongar. Please continue standing with her 0700393695. The journey is not over yet, but today an old woman somewhere in Sidindi near Kutana is sleeping with hope in her heart instead of despair. And that matters. Glory to God the provider. May your acts of kindness be the reason he opens doors for you and me.

.@RealMatiangi, you defied numerous court orders, abducted, drugged, and deported a Kenyan citizen. You ran death squads that killed people and dumped their bodies in the River Yala. Between August and October 2017, police acting on your orders killed over 100 opposition supporters and raped women. I’m sharing a link to the 2017 Human Rights Watch report, in case you have forgotten the monster you were while serving as Cabinet Secretary for the Interior Ministry. hrw.org/report/2017/10…

The reported blocking of the TuKo Kadi concert team from accessing Uhuru Park, despite months of compliance with all required approvals, is deeply troubling. It reflects a worrying pattern of intolerance and state interference that undermines the freedoms of expression, assembly, and enterprise. When lawful, youth-driven initiatives are frustrated in this manner, it raises serious concerns about the direction we are taking as a country. We must remain vigilant. This moment calls for renewed civic awareness, sustained mobilization, and deliberate civic education, especially among our young people. If public events that follow due process can be arbitrarily blocked, then we must begin to ask hard questions about the fairness of our democratic space as we approach the next elections. Kenya must be a nation where rules are respected, opportunities are protected, and every voice is allowed to be heard.
