@RepBrendanBoyle Was at a 4th-grade dads’ night at a bar tonight where they were showing arena golf with Tiger Woods. This would be charming in a way if not for the pathos of people actually gambling on it.

In the years before WWII, France was highly polarized along partisan lines. This caused many people to lose moral clarity. Their defensive, combative mindset led them to betrayal of their country, their neighbors, and themselves. I tell a bit of the story here:

It could be that the ICE at airports thing has some devious logic behind it but it also seems highly possible to me that Trump has absolutely no idea what’s going on and hears that TSA isn’t working and it’s the Democrats’ fault so he sends ICE because they’re his guys.

This scene in Miami Vice where "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins plays stands as one of TV's all time greatest cinematic sequences. It effortlessly establishes the mood and highlights just how far today's television industry has fallen. This authentic soul is gone.

In 2008, the Catholic vote was evenly split: 50% for McCain 50% for Obama In 2024, it was solidly red: 56% for Trump 42% for Harris White Catholics are a 2:1 Republican voting bloc now. Non-white Catholics went from 24% for Trump in 2016 to 40% in 2024.

The saddest thing in the world is projecting some kind of ideological fantasy onto Trump. Like he's clearly just some real estate hustler, you have to be the biggest sucker in the world to be like 'this guy will fulfill my dreams of American grandeur"

From Pope Leo’s message: “while inviting the Church to accompany, discern and integrate fragility (cf. AL chap. VIII), overcoming a reductive conception of the norm, and to promote ‘the spirituality that unfolds in family life’ (AL313). As I had the opportunity to say to the young people gathered at Tor Vergata during the Jubilee of Hope, fragility is ‘part of the marvel of creation… We are not made for a life where everything is taken for granted and static, but for an existence that is constantly renewed through gift of self in love.’”
