Pope Leo has called a meeting of all episcopal conference presidents for October — only the second such global gathering ever — to advance the pastoral vision of Amoris Laetitia across the Church. wherepeteris.com/pope-leo-summo…

From Pope Leo’s message: “while inviting the Church to accompany, discern and integrate fragility (cf. AL chap. VIII), overcoming a reductive conception of the norm, and to promote ‘the spirituality that unfolds in family life’ (AL313). As I had the opportunity to say to the young people gathered at Tor Vergata during the Jubilee of Hope, fragility is ‘part of the marvel of creation… We are not made for a life where everything is taken for granted and static, but for an existence that is constantly renewed through gift of self in love.’”

JUST IN: Pope Leo XIV pens message to mark 10th anniversary of Amoris Laetitia Calls presidents of bishops conferences to Rome in October to discuss Church's pastoral approach to families in light of Amoris Laetitia & current societal issues Praises text as “a luminous message of hope regarding conjugal love & family life.” Notably silent about controversial passage 305 -- instead he quotes from text to emphasize the beauties of family life, the struggles found within it, & the family’s relation with the Church Full analysis shortly on @PelicanCatholic

@metathomist @poperespecter1 I'm sure it's something along those lines. It's being shared to Stoke hysteria and moral panic by people with an agenda. And sadly they are exploiting the innate racism of reactionary Catholics who are more than willing to buy that it is pagan - because it's different.

its an agricultural rite that involves gratitude and respect for the earth against the backdrop of looking at our relationship with nature through the lens of St. Augustine (what the meetings were about). They are likely kissing the ground and the "rite" could've have very well simply been accompanied with prayer of gratitude with gestures that showed that in a Christianized context. The rituals today are still celebrated culturally but in many places are heavily Christianized and sanitized from the pagan deity elements. except, from what ive seen, among the more rural "shaman" types and what not. It's like day of the dead in Mexico which aligns with All Souls etc. They still celebrate it but within a Catholic context. The rite itself is about gratitude, except in the christianized version this gratitude is directed towards God etc.

@PapaEgoLeoni Pope Francis, I think, was fine with issuing the teaching and the clarification and letting the chips fall. Pope Leo seems interested in implementing the teaching across the Church.

@PapaEgoLeoni The guidelines issued by Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Portland, for example, contradict the teaching and need to be revised so that they conform with the exhortation. Fortunately the first 2 have new bishops. Archbishop Sample rejects the teaching, however, which is problematic.

@RichRaho His 'message of hope' is not in the Catholic Faith, but in where he is leading them, which is not the Catholic Faith.

Paying tribute to Pope Francis’ Amoris Laetitia on document’s 10th anniversary - calling Apostolic Exhortation a “luminous message of hope,” Pope Leo convenes Oct 2026 meeting of Episcopal Conference Presidents “in an effort to proceed, in mutual listening, to a synodal discernment on the steps to be taken in order to proclaim the Gospel to families today…taking into account what is currently being done in the local Churches.”

@GregDaly Just non-stop day after day. It's really weird for an Australian to decide his nemesis is some suburban dad in the US. Can't he go after someone noteworthy? Putin is a pretty bad guy. Or in the Catholic world, John Henry Westen is actively trying to destroy the Church.

@GregDaly It would be funny if it wasn't so obnoxious. I like the one where he covers up my name because he probably realized that he'd gone overboard in attacking me publicly. He brings up Ukraine when the issue I was thinking about was the death penalty.

Why is this loser so obsessed with every single thing I tweet? Why does he read all of my articles? Seriously except when I notice once again that he is telling lies about me, I don't think about this guy. Why can't he quit me?

Everyone is yawning, because Pope Leo is *good* at preaching Christ crucified, so nobody who isn't insane thinks he is a pantheist or an indifferentist. Turns out being good, clear, consistent communicator is a valuable skill for a Pope! press.vatican.va/content/salast…

@davidgmac9 It's classic "Mean Girls." They're having these public conversations, saying nasty things about me. They don't know me; they just make up this stuff... They pretend to know what I'm thinking. What psychological need does this fill for them?

@mfjlewis Mike, I think it is a badge of honour. These beta boys do not have the courage to say these things to a pope. They want to dissent and you remind them of our duty of fidelity to the Church.

If somebody wants to argue about the issues and they want to present a well-developed counter to my point of view, that's one thing - but this guy has to always make it about me being an idiot or being wicked or having some secret agenda and he's gotten on my last nerve.
