Had an enjoyable afternoon at @RSPBotmoor seeing Bewick’s Swans and American Wigeon with a bonus couple of Glossy Ibis. Distant records of the latter two which showed well enough through a scope.

Today @jkyles32 & I stayed local for a change, with Smew & Goshawk early, and catching up with Ewan @Stormvogel99 made for a nice morning, later Kyle & I dropped into @RSPBotmoor which was our last port of call, it was fabulous seeing a showy Bittern. @oxonbirdnews @BirdGuides

@RSPBotmoor went to see the starling #Murmuration today. Was ok, however overshadowed by the lapwings of which there were hundreds on the move. Also, while the starlings were gathering the glossy ibis casually came in to roost & no one noticed.

@RSPBotmoor Heard lots of #waterrail #cettis #teal saw a lovely pair of #Bullfinch large flock of #Linnets I also see the reserve has been busy over the winter.

@RSPBotmoor I went to Otmoor first light on a Sunday morning a week ago I saw five water rails and 4 sparrow hawks it was amazing normally you just hear them. In all the yrs I have visited.

Russian White-fronted Goose at Ashgrave, Otmoor this afternoon. At least 50 present along with about 20 Tundra Bean Geese amongst hundreds of Canada and Greylag Geese. Also a few Barnacles too. @RSPBotmoor @OOSbirding @Natures_Voice @BBOWT

End of year visit to an icy @RSPBotmoor where I added Tundra Bean Goose to my year list with at least eight birds present. Also Whited Fronted & Barnacle Geese, Raven, Marsh Harrier, Water Rail, Fieldfare & Redwing the highlights

In the Wetlands Hide today @RSPBotmoor all the action was in the reeds and hedgerows from the ‘small is beautiful’. Merry Christmas ❤️

Awesome to have this epic murmuration all to ourselves at @RSPBotmoor this evening, often directly under the shape-shifting blanket of birds, hearing them chuckle & chatter. Bean & WF Geese, Peregrine, harriers & kites, yet it was the commonest of the common that stole the show.
