But they’d make the same amont of money and enlarge their fan base, or at the least, not upset a chunk of their base by not playing shows and not telling them they aren’t important. Business is about making money, growing clients so even if the expanded concert series makes the same amount of money the band still has happy fans to buy merch, stream music and maybe even buy physical media if the band puts it out

This has always been true. Net vs. gross. Agents and managers are paid on gross, not net. They are incentivized to fill schedules with breakeven shows. Classic principal-agent problem. If you pay attention as an artist, you end up with a free MBA. That’s why I teach at the business college.

@scottew I’ve followed Arizona basketball over 38 years. AZ will not go undefeated for the season. They will have at least two losses, and not to other basketball titans; they’re going to be to unranked backwater conference rivals. Great for BYU except for the whole #13 thing.

In tonight's men's basketball matchup featuring the BYU Cougars and the Arizona Wildcats, I intend to be "all in" (as they say) for the Cougars. This means I hope they win.

@scottew You can manually invoke it at any time, but it seems really good at just detecting hold music and offering its services. I thought it might only recognize “opus #1”, but it’s probably been trained on a whole corpus of hold music

there should be a little AI agent hanging out on every Android and iOS device that you can summon via button whenever you end up on hold, which does the listening and beeps when an agent picks up
