@RandomPe0n @Thelastsupersa2 That's the general idea. Ultimately, when shaping a story, there are always things you discard because they contradict the main plot. This is especially true when it comes to characters, since you don't adapt the story to the characters; the characters adapt to the story.

@g0Bzwq8BCek5s7M @meganehead1 The God of the Bible creates and want a relationship with His creation because He has an overflow of love. He cannot abide by evil because He has an overflow of justice. He does not wish to eradicate humans despite our sins because He has an overflow of mercy, etc…

@rotshar @Thelastsupersa2 Oh, I get you now. You’re saying the idea is incompatible with how Cinder is in the show, even in the earlier seasons. But that’s… exactly what I said, though?

@RandomPe0n @Thelastsupersa2 I may not have expressed myself well, I'm referring to the case of continuing with the idea that Cinder is close to Summer, which was leaked these days.

@agonizinglyanj @meganehead1 Which is why they didn’t ethnic cleanse them and the Canaanites continued to exist after the war, with many merely living alongside the Hebrews and ending up joining together as one people. Modern descendants of the Hebrews also descend from the same Canaanites they ‘wiped out’.

@agonizinglyanj @meganehead1 What? No. I’m saying God spoke to the Hebrews, a people from the Middle-East’s Iron Age, within the language and culture they understood. And the Hebrews did understand the command to exterminate the Canaanites was merely hyperbolic war rhetoric.

@rotshar @Thelastsupersa2 … But Cinder *isn’t* overprotective of Ruby in V2? In V2, Cinder doesn’t give a shit about Ruby. She’s barely on Cinder’s radar because of having ruined a couple operations of Torchwick, but that’s about it

@RandomPe0n @Thelastsupersa2 A portrayal in volume 2 of Cinder being overprotective of Ruby contradicts what was seen in volume 1, since in that volume Cinder does not hesitate to blow up a considerable area of a building where Ruby is also present.

@g0Bzwq8BCek5s7M @meganehead1 If you’re asking whether God needs this, then no. God doesn’t need for anything. It is the specific kind of relationship He wanted with Abraham and his descendants that needs this highly demanding commitment, but God doesn’t need that relationship. He wants it to exist.

@moriokaorthodox @MrWHOsecond2 Ah ah, yeah. There’s a lot to learn, and even after years of studying Christianity, I still feel like I only understand a piece of it. Thankfully, we’re saved by faith, not by knowledge.

Hokuto Ide@Hokuto_Ide

@g0Bzwq8BCek5s7M @meganehead1 With respect, I don’t agree with this, not in the context this verse is in. The God of the Bible formed a specific convenant with His people, which is often theologically likened to marriage as an analogy. Is it petty jealousy to expect your spouse to not sleep with others?

@g0Bzwq8BCek5s7M @meganehead1 Back then, the word jealous was synonymous with zealous, and the verse you’re quoting is God asking His people to be as dedicated to Him as He is promising to be to them. It’s not jealousy in the modern sense, as the word would acquire that meaning only centuries later

@agonizinglyanj @meganehead1 Middle-Eastern ancient war rhetorics often claimed to have wiped out the enemy people entirely as hyperbole. If that was literal, the ethnic group in question wouldn’t have kept showing up later, wouldn’t it?

@otapediatrician I had then gotten a barrage of insults from other westerners as they ‘corrected’ me by insisting that the majority of Japan doesn’t believe in the supernatural and identify as atheists. Seeing Japanese say it’s not true their people is non-religious is… vindicating.

@otapediatrician It’s been a decade since then, but I once commented that while the Japanese may seem atheistic on the surface, Shinto is so embedded in their lives that it’s more that they’re ‘so religious that their religiosity doesn’t seem like such’.

@RandomPe0n @Thelastsupersa2 Cinder's portrayal in V2 contradicts the beginning of V1, where she doesn't hesitate to blow up Glynda and Ruby. P.S.: Don't consume fanfixes; there are many good stories out there waiting to be read.

@ApexImperialist @Reddit_Retards ‘Like’ might not be the most accurate word, but Jesus Himself told His followers to remember His work on the cross. I’m pretty sure using crosses as a Christian symbol counts as such

@rotshar @Thelastsupersa2 Yeah, if this particular idea hadn’t been discarded before the show even started, Cinder’s characterization in V2 would have been way different. Still, it’s good fuel for AU fics lol.

@Thelastsupersa2 That just shows a discarded idea of an unrequited relationship. I do think Monty would have included LGBTQ+ elements in the show, but he didn't live to see it, and at this point, he wouldn't take those discarded ideas seriously.
