I need book recommendations. I read a lot about ‘Democracy’ (Alexis de Tocqueville, etc), and a lot about ‘Capitalism’ (Marx, etc). What books / authors deal with the interaction between these two organizing structures? The relationship between the two? Which one has priority?

Since I had to explain this a couple of times recently here on Twitter, please allow me to mention that Thomas Sowell, economist and author, is still alive. He is 92.

@ReaderDriftless @Maxyss_ I love Potok’s “the chosen” and also have a copy of “a separate peace” on there (though the title on the spine has worn of) which is among my favorite books.

The books in my office have taken on a life of their own and though I think slightly wild bookshelves, like gardens, are more interesting, this is a bit out of control 😅 I am using this post as motivation to organize and will send an “after” photo
