@micyoung75 A little over a year ago the Democrats were labeling parents who attended school board meetings as domestic terrorists. And they cancelled, banned, fired, and even jailed people for dissent and free speech. I don’t remember the Brennan Center speaking up against any of that.

The Brennan Center is waving a big red flag for a reason. When a president quietly stretches “domestic terrorism” to cover views on migration, race, gender, or mutual aid at protests, that is not precision. That is a permission slip to treat marches, tweets, and associations as security files. The First Amendment exists to stop exactly this temptation to relabel dissent as danger. You do not defeat real terrorism by turning every protest sign into a potential trigger for a watchlist. You just clear out the public square until people are too scared to show up. A confident country does not need to invent new terror categories to monitor its own citizens. It enforces existing laws against violence, and leaves speech alone, even when it is loud, wrong, or deeply inconvenient to whoever has the Resolute desk this year.
