Lastly, back to Nas and his plan to LYNCH a Jay-Z dummy at Hot97 Summer Jam 2002. As a response to being dissed by Jay-Z on the previous year’s Hot97 Summer Jam. Nas was planning on LYNCHING a Jay-Z dummy on stage. Once the higher ups at Hot97 learned about Nas’ plan, they stepped in and told him that he would not be allowed to depict the LYNCHING OF A BLACK MAN on stage. Nas then refused to perform and backed out at the last minute. He then went to a rival radio station and took shots at Jay, Hot97, Angie Martinez, Funk Flex, Def Jam, Cam’ron, Nore, Nelly, etc. Jay had nothing to do with the incident. He was overseas on vacation with Beyoncé. He reacted to it all during a classic interview with Angie Martinez once he was back home. Again, Jay didn’t censor Nas. Hot97 did. And they did him a favor.

Next up, “In Between Us” Scarface has a long personal and professional relationship with both, Jay and Nas. He was the only artist to feature both, Jay and Nas on his album (‘The Fix’) while they were beefin’. When Face and Nas recorded “In Between Us” Nas’ verse was going at Jay and he used some of the lines that ended up on “Ether.” Face asked Nas record another verse out of respect for Jay, and because he didn’t want to be involved in their drama. Again, Jay had nothing to do with censoring Nas.

Next up, “Ante Up (Remix)” Prodigy was originally supposed to appear on the record, but the verse he recorded was dissin’ Jay-Z. M.O.P. and Jay-Z had a long relationship that went beyond music. Jay was also supposed to be featured on the record. But after hearing Prodigy’s verse, M.O.P. decided to leave him off the record and also declined Jay’s appearance. M.O.P. THEMSELVES made that decision because they didn’t want to be involved in industry drama that had nothing to do with them, and out of respect for Jay. Jay didn’t ask them to. Their label didn’t asked them to. This also took place while they were signed to Loud Records, before they signed with Roc-A-Fella. You know who was also signed to Loud Records at that time?… Mobb Deep. So, again. Where’s the censorship?
