@ChaseParham, one of the best writers on the Ole Miss beat, had explained this, both in print and on his podcast. Chambliss entered college after Covid, so he doesn’t have another “Covid year” to use. Playing at a Division II school doesn’t count as JUCO time, so this represents his final year of “regular” eligibility, based on his time at Ferris State and Ole Miss. Not surprisingly, Ole Miss has already petitioned the NCAA to give Chambliss another year of eligibility, but it’s going to be an uphill battle. Then again, nothing is impossible; Vandy’s QB obtained a court injunction that is allowing him to play in his seventh year of eligibility and Oklahoma State had a QB who was granted an eighth year of eligibility, but declared for the NFL instead

Something that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves is how professionally Austin Simmons has presented himself since Trinidad Chambliss took over as QB1. Simmons has been a leader, even from the sidelines. That’s very commendable for a 19-year-old.

Absolutely. And he doesn’t return as the starter this year, he is QB1 in 2026 and beyond. And if you saw the close-up of that massive tape on his ankle, you can see why he hasn’t been able to play—and why we should be thankful Charlie Weis, Jr decided to check out a Division II transfer QB who popped up in his DMs

@coachFMartin @coacheubankss33 I teach celebrate your teammates. The guy that makes it shouldn’t be the one celebrating it should be their teammates. My goal for next year is each player knows each others celebration and they so it for them as a team instead of the player who makes the shot.

Watching grassroot basketball for the last month and one thing sticks out to me. Every time somebody makes a three they go into their own celebration. I’ve only seen one guy who points at whoever passed him the ball. This game is about “us” not about “me “ We need to help young people create habits that fit that

@BankHoops I’ve gotten in multiple arguments with coaches over the years coaching my kids. If you are coaching at a young age and only play zone don’t call yourself a coach. You aren’t teaching kids. You are just managing kids and trying to win instead of making them better.

Multiple kids I couldn't evaluate defensively today, as they're 6-4 and in the middle of a 2-3 zone.

Per 03 South Christian post. 6-11 Kirk Walters a forgotten great -- his championship game stat line against Muskegon Heights was 29 points and 20 rebounds in 26 minutes on 10-11 fg and 9-10 ft. He then played at Arizona. In West Michigan in that class also was 6-11 Kyle Visser (Wake Forest), 6-10 Drew Naymick (MSU) and 6-10 Jamie Smalligan (Butler/West Virginia).
