During Women's History Month, I will continue to honor extraordinary women throughout South Florida whose leadership uplifts and transforms our region. Today, we honor Mayor Eileen Higgins, City of Miami, who made history as the first female Mayor of the City of Miami following years of dedicated public service as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 5. Representing a very diverse population, Mayor Higgins has been a relentless advocate for equity and opportunity, expanding transportation access, championing affordable housing, uplifting small minority-owned businesses, defending working families, seniors, and LGBTQ allies, and protecting the waters that define our region. Her leadership reflects a bold commitment to progress, inclusion, and a stronger future for all.

| was thrilled to welcome the "Housewives" to Capitol Hill as they tackled the complexities of HIV/AIDS. It was heartwarming to see them championing a cause that I have advocated for years, even before becoming an elected official. I was especially proud to welcome my dear friend Phaedra Parks of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta." What an amazing morning in the U.S. Senate.

Her leadership is driving progress on housing, economic opportunity, public safety, and environmental protection, while uplifting families across our region. Her vision and service continue to move Miami-Dade forward with purpose and lasting impact.

Today, we honor Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, for her fearless leadership, tireless dedication, and unwavering commitment to public service. As Chairwoman of the Airport Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee, and a member of several key boards and commissions, her vision and service create new opportunities, strengthen our institutions, and leave a legacy of excellence and impact throughout South Florida.

Today, we honor State Representatives Ashley Gantt, Dotie Joseph, Marie Woodson Bryant, and Felicia Robinson for their distinguished leadership, unwavering commitment to public service, and steadfast dedication to advancing equity and opportunity in our district and across Florida. Through their vision and tireless efforts, they are transforming lives, breaking barriers, and shaping a brighter future for generations to come.

Join us for the 4th Annual Police and Youth Little Boys Bee as young scholars from across Miami-Dade County Public Schools showcase their spelling skills and compete for prizes. Come support these bright students as they demonstrate excellence, confidence, and the power of learning.

During Women's History Month, we honor M. Athalie Range, a trailblazing civil rights leader, businesswoman, and public servant whose courage and conviction transformed Miami and the State of Florida. As the first African-American to serve on the Miami City Commission and the first African-American woman to lead a Florida state agency as Secretary of the Department of Community Affairs, she shattered barriers and expanded opportunity for all. Her lifelong commitment to justice, equity, and community empowerment reflects the very spirit of Women's History Month.

This Women's History Month, we celebrate Commissioner Marleine Bastien, the first Haitian American woman elected to the Miami-Dade County Commission. Her historic leadership represents the strength, resilience, and determination of our Haitian community. She broke barriers and opened doors for the next generation of women to lead and serve. Her legacy is powerful and her impact will be felt for generations to come.

I am deeply honored to have a research robot at @FIU named RV Wilson in my honor. This distinction reflects the extraordinary dedication of FIU’s students, faculty, and researchers, whose work in science, technology, and environmental stewardship is shaping the future. It is a privilege to support their mission and witness their remarkable achievements.

I am proud to have secured more than $11 million in federal funding for @FIU, strengthening robotics research, advancing Everglades restoration, and expanding opportunities for the next generation of leaders. Investing in research and education is how we strengthen our communities and build a more prosperous future.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tour @FIU with faculty and students, including a visit to the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Laboratory. It was inspiring to see the groundbreaking research and innovation happening right here in South Florida. When our students lead with curiosity and innovation, there is no limit to what the future can hold.

This Women's History Month, we honor Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek. She was a fearless fighter for justice, education, and opportunity for the people of South Florida. She broke barriers and opened doors for generations of women in public service. Because of her courage, so many of us are able to lead today. We stand on her shoulders.

In today's America, it has become normal to show hate. But this country is better than this.

During Women's History Month, we honor Christine King, Chairwoman of the Miami City Commission and District Five Commissioner, and the first Black female Chair of the City ot Miami Commission. Her distinguished leadership ano steadfast commitment to public service continue to advance opportunity and equity for all.

We are now accepting submissions from students across Florida’s 24th District. The 1st place winner will have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol. Apply by April 13.
