Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! As a former teacher, principal, school administrator, and school board member, I know firsthand how much educators shape the lives of our children and how hard they work every day. Teachers are the backbone of our community and our future. Let's thank them today and every day for all they do to support our children.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Your mind matters, and so does your well-being. We must continue to break the stigma around mental health and ensure that everyone feels supported in seeking care. Let’s work together to build a culture of understanding, compassion, and access for all.

Jewish American Heritage Month is a time to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Jewish Americans across our nation. We recognize and celebrate the strength and diversity they bring to our shared American story.

The right to vote is not negotiable. It is not optional. It is the foundation of everything else in this country.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month honors the resilience and contributions of AAPI communities. We celebrate their stories and stand against anti-Asian hate while expanding opportunity for all. I am proud to support AAPI communities today and every day.

Happy Haitian Heritage Month! We honor the strength, culture, and resilience of the Haitian people and their contributions across public service, advocacy, and community leadership. I am proud to represent one of the largest Haitian populations in the country. Haitian Americans like Mia Love, Farah N. Louis, and Jean-Robert Lafortune have broken barriers, fought for families, and strengthened communities across the nation. Their legacy continues to make our community stronger every day.

International Workers’ Day honors the strength, dignity, and sacrifice of workers everywhere. Workers are the backbone of our economy and deserve fair wages, safe workplaces, and respect. We must continue fighting for policies that lift up every worker and protect their rights.

Homeland security is not a game. Our workers deserve stability, and the American people deserve better than manufactured crises.

Black men are carrying unseen burdens, and when mental health is ignored, families pay the price. The tragic loss of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen is a painful reminder that we must act. The United States Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys will be delving into this crisis, but we already know what’s needed: real investment in mental health care and real accountability. We must protect Black women and children, while also ensuring Black men have access to the mental health care, accountability, and support needed to break cycles of harm and prevent future tragedy.

Today, the Supreme Court will hear arguments on Temporary Protected Status for Haiti and Syria, putting 1.3 million lives at risk. TPS holders are not outsiders. They are our neighbors, parents of 390,000 U.S. citizen children, and contributors of $29 billion to our economy. I am leading the fight to protect TPS and the families who depend on it.

Today, @USProgressives are announcing the New Affordability Agenda to bring down costs for working families. I hear it every day, families are being squeezed by the rising cost of housing, groceries, and health care. We cannot accept a status quo where working families fall further behind. I am working to lower costs and deliver real relief for families across this country.

People who work full time should be able to live on what they earn. Right now, too many families are doing everything right and still can’t keep up with rent, groceries, and basic needs. That is not acceptable. A living wage is about meeting reality. It’s about making sure work actually pays enough to live. I am working, and will continue working, to make that a reality.

This Autism Awareness Month, we’re raising awareness about disparities too often ignored. Black children, especially Black boys, are too often diagnosed later and face greater barriers to care and support. Early intervention changes lives, and every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

I am saddened by the passing of my colleague, Congressman David Scott. He served Georgia with dedication and was a proud member of the Congressional Black Caucus, where he stood firm for justice and opportunity for our communities. My prayers are with his family and loved ones. May they be comforted, and may his legacy of service continue to inspire.

On this Earth Day, I am reminded that we have a duty to protect our planet for our children and grandchildren. Let’s work together to keep our communities clean, strengthen our environment, and build a healthier future for all. There is no Planet B.

The House has done its job, and now the Senate must answer to history.

I was proud to join Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, and our community for the 4th Annual Police and Youth Little Boys Bee. These young scholars showed confidence, discipline, and excellence. They are rising, leading, and showing what is possible. I will always stand behind our young people, because when they succeed, our future is stronger and brighter.

Today, I voted on the motion to advance legislation that would extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitian nationals. For Haitian nationals, these deportation threats are not policy. They are a death sentence. My constituents have done everything right, and I refuse to stand by while they are sent back into violence, instability, and fear. I will keep fighting with everything I have until these families are protected and this injustice is brought to an end.

Costs are climbing, and South Florida is feeling the pressure at every turn. From the checkout line to the rent bill, too many people are being stretched beyond their limits. Those at the top may not feel it, but everyday people are being forced to make impossible choices just to get by. We need urgent action to lower costs and expand access to affordable housing, and I am fighting every day to deliver real relief.

On Tax Day, families are doing everything right, but it still feels like they are falling behind. 
Costs are rising, paychecks are stretched, and the pressure is real. Meanwhile, the wealthy keep getting ahead while working families are asked to do more with less. 
I am fighting to rebalance the system, lower the costs people feel every day, and make sure hard work finally pays off.
