Kenyan tax law is tricky, and sometimes entertaining. There are guys called H-N-F. High Networth Freelancers. They earn in dollars. Think in dollars. And price everything in dollars. They have made life particulary difficult for agents. I heard one casually say. - I get the rent is Ksh 180k, but how much is that in dollars? And before the agent could reach for the calculator. He told him to forget about it. But now, In Kenya, taxes are crazy. A freelancer earning 10M annually, Pay taxes worth 3M shillings. • That is 30%. They do not like that. So they get creative. They look for low-tax countries: - Dubai, Mauritius, cayman islands, etc. They register brief case companies there. - As sole directors & sole shareholders. Clients pay directly to those companies. The company pays Zero or very low tax. • Then sends money to Kenya as dividends. Withholding tax about ~5% - So tax drops from 30% to 5%. Same 10m. Tax now 500,000. But unknown to them. There is one dangerous sentence chilling quietly in Kenyan tax law. It reads: • Any company managed and controlled from Kenya, is a Kenyan resident company. Meaning: - You own the company in Cayman - But run it from your laptop in Nairobi That is a Kenyan company. And Kenyan companies must pay Kenyan taxes. So one day KRA audits the freelancer. He pays zero taxes in Kenya. He says he earns dividend from his Cayman company. KRA asks for the registration documents. And finds he is the sole director. - KRA Taxes the company in Kenya - Adds penalties for tax evasion - And goes for him as the representative to pay Lesson. • Structure your offshore company properly. • Or KRA will structure it for you.

A bankrupt island nation of 22 million people just taught every great power on Earth a lesson in leverage. Sri Lanka’s President Dissanayake stood before cameras on 6 March and said: “We are neutral but also humanitarian. Sri Lanka is a free and non-aligned nation. We do not favour any country. We treat every human being equally, whether Iranian, American, or Israeli. We jealously guard our non-aligned policy while ensuring that humanitarian values and the saving of lives remain our top priority.” Then he granted free one-month humanitarian visas to all 236 Iranian sailors, the 32 survivors pulled from the wreckage of the IRIS Dena and 204 crew evacuated from the disabled IRIS Bushehr. He described sheltering them as “the most courageous and humanitarian course of action a state can take.” The United States, which sank the Dena using USS Charlotte (SSN-766), a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine firing Mk 48 heavyweight torpedoes 19 to 44 nautical miles off Galle, is pressuring Colombo through a State Department cable to retain the sailors under conditions favourable to American intelligence access. Washington wants the 32 survivors who witnessed classified US submarine engagement tactics. China, which holds Hambantota port under a 99-year lease 90 kilometres from the sinking site, says nothing publicly. The debt speaks for itself. India, which hosted the Dena at its MILAN 2026 exercise weeks before the ship was sunk by India’s closest strategic partner, has not uttered a single word about any of it. Iran is broadcasting the rescue footage across every state media channel. Eighty-seven dead sailors and a neutral nation that refused American demands. And Sri Lanka, sovereign-defaulted in 2022, currently under IMF conditionality, owing billions to Beijing through Belt and Road, dependent on Indian goodwill for regional security, and sitting at the intersection of every great-power pressure line in the Indian Ocean, chose international law. UNCLOS Article 98 required the rescue. Geneva Convention II Article 17 required the internment. Hague Convention XIII prohibited allowing the sailors to re-enter combat. Sri Lanka followed every obligation to the letter. Uruguay did the same during the Falklands. Switzerland did the same throughout World War II. The law is unambiguous. The politics are not. This is the same Sri Lanka that founded the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961. That hosted the fifth NAM summit in 1976. That proposed the Indian Ocean as a Zone of Peace in 1971 and got the UN to adopt it. And that is now pursuing BRICS partner status under India’s 2026 chairmanship, with Prime Minister Amarasuriya calling membership “strategically appealing” on 6 March, the same week her government was sheltering Iranian sailors against American objections. Every major power assumed Sri Lanka would fold. Washington assumed economic leverage would force compliance. Beijing assumed debt would ensure silence. Delhi assumed proximity would guarantee deference. Tehran assumed sympathy would guarantee solidarity. Instead, Colombo followed the law, issued the visas, sheltered the sailors, and told every great power exactly the same thing: we are neutral, we are humanitarian, and we do not take sides. The weakest economy in the Indian Ocean just demonstrated the strongest foreign policy. Full analysis for paid subscribers. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

Sri Lanka will grant one-month free visas to sailors rescued from Iranian vessels, allowing them to remain in the country under humanitarian protection, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said. He stated the decision was made in line with international maritime law and conventions, stressing it was a humanitarian measure and not intended to support or oppose any party. The government also reaffirmed its non-aligned stance while handling the situation.

Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London, Tokyo, Miami, Copenhagen, Venice, and New Orleans are some of the cities around the world that are built at or below sea levels yet they simply managed to contain floods by building rotary steel gates, underground silos and pipes, moving storm gates, and inflatable barriers to contain floods. Mr. Dimples promised to employ these technologies to contain perennial flooding in Nairobi but failed spectacularly.

I think the real issue is not training children to compete with AI, but helping them become capable of creating greater things together with it. Education needs to move away from memorization and toward reasoning, connecting ideas, improving, and learning how to ask the right questions. 3D AI models, interactive learning, and spatial experiences can turn knowledge into something that is not just consumed, but truly understood. Because every meaningful piece of knowledge becomes the foundation for the next one; the goal should not be to fill a child’s memory, but to expand their capacity to think, build, and develop.

One of the biggest scams in crypto is not a token. It’s the word HODL. Retail is told to HODL while whales are quietly dumping on them. Crypto is volatile and If you don’t have an exit plan, you are exit liquidity. Learn crypto market cycles. Know when to be bullish and when to be bearish. Cycles help you understand when to invest and when to stay sidelined. HODLing losses through a full bear market while whales already sold is stupidity, not conviction. If timelines are full of profit screenshots, that’s your signal to SELL. If everyone is panicking, crying, and calling crypto dead, that’s when smart money is BUYING. Don’t buy when everyone is euphoric. Don’t sell at a loss because of emotions. Bitcoin is now down 50%+ and people are still shouting “HODL” like parrots. Ask yourself If HODL was so powerful, why did they sell and you didn’t? Cut losses , Stop marrying coins and Understand tokenomics or stay out. Crypto rewards thinkers, not cheerleaders. Protect capital first. There will always be another pump but not another you or another capital to deploy.

Shocking details has now emerged about Geoffrey Mosiria’s games of urban areas. The streets are now talking about Katibu mkuu, the ultimate "obtainer" who allegedly brokered a KSh 4M extortion deal between Marion Naipei and our boy Opande. Using the Jelly Kunt as bait against Opande, Mosiria pocketed a KSh 2M deposit to "control the ground" and kill the story as the American nurse sought for the balance which was to go to Kunt by today at 2pm. They even influenced a high ranking lawyer to make a video explaining why Kunt could win as much as 50M in court. That was a part of the extortion. I remember the daughter of Agrippina crying while saying, "Opande, I feel pain for exposing me because you knew I trusted you." But greed backfired. While Katibu went silent with the cash, the American regrouped and strategized. He hired a private investigator to scour through any leads for evidence that is now leaking like a Netflix series. The Result,,, Katibu is ghosting the lady, and the woman is left penniless with a ruined reputation. She should have applied for NYOTA funds and started a legit business instead of going back to flipping the bean for Fans who are categorized as ONLY. Huyo Mosiria atajua hajui, itakuwa funzo kwake na wanaume wengine wenye tabia za kisenge kama zaka. Kama kawa sisi walala hoii hatuna maoni, Letu Jicho tu.👀

Geoffrey Mosiria KE has met Irene Wanjiku. The young woman is seeking justice through compensation. Opande James appears to have taken a direct flight to the United States. Irene has stated that she has never done anything of that nature. She says she is 22 years old, lives in Mwihoko, and paid for a Bolt ride to Umoja, where Jaymoo was having a drink. She further claims that James had promised to marry her upon his return to Kenya. In the interest of fairness and accountability, both parties should apologize to Kenyans, and justice should be pursued for all involved. Opande just surrender yourself to Buruburu police station.

This guy has robbed my Mpesa shop attendant over Ksh. 50,000. This is how it happened...... Someone came and asked the guy for an Oraimo Charger. My guy called me to confirm the price. Then gave the customer his phone to talk to me. The customer replaced my number with his. Then sent the following messages.... My guy whom I had warned of mchezo ya tauni went ahead to deposit the said amount. I can guess the number of people who knew I was going to restock today. But I need the help of @SafaricomPLC @Safaricom_Care to narrow down to one person.

The ongoing KDF recruitment has been a wake-up call for me, both as a parent and an educator. About 1,500 recruits were sent home after failing drug tests. Let that sink in. 1,500. Just last month, two friends and I were celebrating because our kids had been shortlisted for Cadet professional courses. We decided to do pre-screening early to avoid surprises. Good decision. A trip to the Coast revealed a tattoo on my daughter. Luckily, I knew KDF bans tattoos, so we had it removed. One of my friends wasn’t so lucky—he only discovered his son’s tattoo this week. The boy was turned back on Tuesday. Dream shattered. The other friend’s daughter failed the drug test. She has never smoked, injected or sniffed anything. But in law school she casually ate those “brown weed cookies” at parties. That was enough. This generation is swimming in weed culture. Back then, “kukunywa bangi” was an abomination. Today? It’s normal. Even fashionable. Two friends recently found rolls of weed in their daughters’ bags. These are bright, lovely girls. Sweet kids. But the world they live in is different—and very unforgiving. Parents, let’s stop living in denial. We need honest conversations, early guidance, and real vigilance. Teachers, start career talks WAY earlier—before peer pressure, parties, tattoos and piercings close doors like KDF, NYS, law enforcement, aviation, and more. As for my girl, a medical issue (not drug-related) made us step aside from this year’s intake. Bottom line: Parenting today requires sharper eyes, open conversations, and early intervention. (Copied)
