KRA can freeze your bank account without warning. Just like that. You wake up one day: - You cannot withdraw - You cannot send money - You can only deposit. Here is how they work. When you owe KRA taxes, they first send you demand emails. Polite, but with small threats. - “Shisabula, pay us within 7 days or enforcement action will follow.” Most people ignore them. Or hope it will sort itself out. Next move, - If you do not pay them within time or - Or you don’t respond to negotiate a payment plan They send a freeze letter to all banks instant. It reads like this. - Freeze any bank accounts belonging to Shisabula of ID no. 123355. It is your bank branch manager that will call in the morning to notify you that you cannot withdraw. Unfortunately, this can happen: - Even when you are disputing the tax - Even when you think the assessment is wrong KRA freezes first. You can explain later. And I have no clue how kra senses it, But most of the time, they freeze accounts when you need the money the most. This is what they did to our boy Morara. Lessons: - Do not ignore KRA emails and notices - Do not accumulate tax issues quietly - Do not assume “it will sort itself out” - And most important. Stack cash in your house when fighting with KRA. Cash is King.

No Allan, they won't do that. They'll do what your MPS with better living conditions, Prado Txs and range rovers are doing. They'll do what the stinking rich do with tenders, they'll do what oil cartels, sugar barons and gold smugglers do. It is only filthy when they crawl for crumbles by the road side, wait till they're in power and money and watch them still to the tune of billions and stash in Dubai and Swiss banks. A ghetto boy is willing to steal your phone, a bank teller will call goons on you after making a withdrawal, an SME business woman wants to sell you counterfeit products at the price of luxury products from UK/France, a billionaire is financing a politician who will give him tender to supply Sugar while local industries are dying. There is not a level where the corrupt will say, "this is enough for me". There is never enough for the corrupt, Allan, only opportunities.

This is because of Poverty. Give those people better living conditions , better working environment and better pay to be able to afford food and other amenities at ease and see if they will do that. Our leaders sometimes fail us in this country.
