Ghosts aren't real. What people call "ghosts" are either angels or demons, spirits that serve God or rebel against Him. There is no in-between, and the Bible makes it clear. Hebrews 9:27 says that man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. We live and die one time with no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form of a ghost. Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive and disguise as "angels of light" by impersonating a deceased human being. But they only seek to “kill, steal, and destroy” (John 10:10). Even positive encounters can be used to mislead. Human beings are very aware of the spiritual world, making psychics, mediums, and seances more normal – which is part of the mass-spiritual deception to be led astray from God.

@operamouse Do the sign of the cross and pray the Jesus prayer until it goes away :) But be careful not to think highly of yourself and therefore fall into pride when warding off these thoughts. This is not something you do but what God does for you because He chooses to out of love.

Please pray for me, I’m not sure where the anxiety is coming from but I suspect it has something to do with imposters syndrome related to getting baptized soon

@YoungPenitent It's wonderful that you caught onto this false conception of fasting. But don't judge your neighbors for this (you could point it out but realize you may suffer for something that may be dismissed); do what God desires of you and let God have the final word concerning them.

@RobBogdan What we do now is acting like Pharisees, reading ingredients lists on packages, etc. to make sure we don’t transgress dietary laws.

I’ve read enough replies to my tweets this past month to conclude that it is fairly common for priests to discourage the faithful from *actually* fasting.

@YoungPenitent Yeah.. that's not actually fasting according to God. God had much to say on this like through Isaiah the Prophet who was martyred for what he said. True fasting is doing this and doing what God commands "to the least of these". Dietary laws alone are false fasting.

@valorthodoxia I can tell you're suffering my friend. But you'll find that even if you must marry poor you'll be more blessed by God by having family than if you were to live in filth. But don't just take my word for it. Seek obedient counsel especially from a godly man (Fr. Ron offered help).

@valorthodoxia Talk to a priest my friend. Go to confession. If you ate the same fruit there is still repentance. She needs to take responsibility and so do you. And if she seeks not marriage don't seek after her; that path leads not to God. Talk; either mutually repent and marry or move on.

@valorthodoxia I'd like to add that I'm not saying it's okay to be promiscuous. If you're doing things before marriage you aren't doing things for a family and therefore you aren't being chaste. Seeking family (making pleasure simply a byproduct) is how you stay chaste. Joy is higher priority.

@valorthodoxia The godly man stays chaste until marriage and remains chaste because chaste means to be whole; not to be a virgin. An ungodly man despises responsibility and seeks his own will in all things. He despises the crowns of martyrdom in marriage and his road is as a pig's sty.

@valorthodoxia He sees the filth of the road he travels and puts off thoughts of it. His consciousness eventually afflicts him for he finds himself alone. The habits he formed makes him captive to the sin he commits and he loses himself. He wallows in misery in the filth he consumed.
