Another Day, Another Scandal This wasnโ€™t known before today. The government changed how public funds were paid out - and routed $38 million through a lawyer connected to other ongoing government scandals. Same network. Same names. More money. Albertans deserve to know: - Why the rules were changed - Who approved it - And how much money actually reached its destination I raised this in the Legislature today. Watch what happens next. #ableg #abpoli #alberta #abtory -

When you stream Spotify to Bluetooth speakers or headphones, the audio comes over the network lossily compressed with Vorbis or AAC codecs, is then decoded on your device to 48 Khz raw samples, then the Bluetooth stack lossily re-compresses it with SBC or AAC codecs before sending it over the airwaves to the speakers. I donโ€™t have โ€œgolden earsโ€ to pick apart audio quality like I can with, say, missing gamma correction on texture filtering, but that still hurts my system optimization soul. It is likely over-optimization, but It would be cleaner if there were a way to send bluetooth-ready, compressed audio directly.

@DrNeilStone Neil, the vaccines didn't end covid, as it's still here. Vaccinated people still got covid and transferred it to those around them. The vaccine makers now admit that the vaccine did not stop covid from spreading at all. (It did reduce deaths, though.)

Huge appreciation to Hexadecimal's voice actress Shirley Milliner. For without her, Hexadecimal wouldn't be the Queen everyone remembers her for.

ReBoot came out in 1994. I was 2. I remember catching episodes around 6-7 and loving that it felt like I was watching a computer game (shoutout Windows 95/98)! I understood none of it. But Hexadecimal gave me nightmares, I could tell you that!

The photo is AI. And compare the non-AI-enhanced version of the photo to how he looked 3 years ago in the Fridman interview (scrawny); he looked significantly more muscular. Conclusion: he either got on low-dose TRT or started working out heavily since the interview with a trainer and much better nutrition (he confessed to being a lifelong lover of pizza๐Ÿ•). So, no, he isn't that guy.

Is there any good reason for cameras to ever suggest 24 fps video? I tend to think that is almost always a poor choice, and users should have to go out of their way to select it. If you are recording something that will be cut into an actual shown-in-a-theater movie, then yes, you need to shoot at 24 fps to match film standards, but nearly all video is actually going to be shown by YouTube and social media on 60 fps displays. 24 fps guarantees not just a low framerate, but an uneven one, as frames get presented in a 3/2 repeated cadence (or worse, a 4/2/2/2 repeat if it gets converted to 30 fps video somewhere along the way). 120 fps displays can show 24 fps video at a constant repeat rate of 5, but I would wager that less than 10% of the video seconds today are in software and hardware properly configured to do that, and you would still be better off with 30 (or 60) fps video. There was a period where some video encoders or decoders could only just barely do 4k at 24 fps and couldnโ€™t manage 30, but I donโ€™t think that is common today.

Iโ€™ve always loved maps in games. They let you โ€œexploreโ€ the world before you even set foot in it - like an appetizer for whatโ€™s to come. What places would you check out first? How would you get there? What lay beyondโ€ฆ? Skara Brae has been hardcoded into my brain. What map had that effect on you?

Latest update on Maya Gebala ๐Ÿ™ "DAY 4: We received some encouraging news today! Maya has started attempting to initiate her own breaths, which is truly incredible. The nurse also noted a slight dilation in her eye. These are all very positive signs and show that sheโ€™s moving in the right direction. Weโ€™re taking it one day at a time, but we believe weโ€™ll get there.
