Could have broken his ankle. He’s “getting kicked out” because he was given a correct red card. It really is simple.
The sport will never catch on with some Americans, the ones who don’t want to learn about something else. The insular ones.
But it is catching on with the rest of you. More popular over there than baseball now.

1) It is possible that I don’t know enough and that’s a perfectly reasonable red card in World Cup play. 2) That call is why soccer will never catch all the way on in the US. To have a guy booted AND then miss a game for that is an outrage. My son asked me “why is he getting kicked out.” And I said “because he stepped on that guy’s foot.” And then I realized how insane that is.

Promise last time. The only explanation for the broadcasters not taking time to educate the non-soccer watching public on the stakes of Balogun's red card (won't play next game) is that, for some reason, they feel like it negatively affects them in some way.
