I guess there’s a big “controversy” going on around the new DLSS 5 update, AI art (boo), and something Digital Foundry said?
I’ve gotta be honest I’m really glad that I don’t follow this side of the hobby, man. Seems needlessly dramatic. But I’m out of the loop so…who knows.

Netflix doing physical media for their flagship show, and through an INDEPENDENT distributor, is truly miraculous.
I hope a bunch of people buy this so that Netflix knows this is a good thing to do.

@Hatrik_Swayze Yeah I know, I hear you. I just watched the trailer and loved it. But I know you’re on the fence now. I’m excited for both but Dune more so. That said Avengers will 100% make more money even without IMAX.
English

@Ruleof2Review Well good luck to Dune. I honestly didn't care for the trailer and you know how I felt about part 2. I'm hoping it's more like part 1 but time will tell.
English

I know everyone is feeling hyped over “Dunesday” but I have to admit that I kinda just hate this. These movies should be spread out by at least a month, for a variety of reasons. Baffling that that both movies are sticking to this date still. Avengers should move.

Disney has reiterated that ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ will not move from its December 18 release date, despite ‘DUNE: PART THREE’ still set to open on the same day.
English

@Da7_Tech That’s fair. I honestly can’t tell which one I’m more excited for. Have you seen the IMAX 6 minute sneak peak for Odyssey by chance? Because if I’m being honest if I hadn’t sent that it would’ve been easy for me to say Dune. But after seeing that it truly torn.
English

I totally get what you're saying, but my point is that Dune is this massive payoff — two iconic films building toward a giant finale, all set in a world rooted in one of the greatest novels ever written. And Villeneuve stayed incredibly faithful to the source material throughout. Nolan, on the other hand, hasn't really been at his best lately. Sure, The Odyssey is greater source material on paper — I'm just talking about the hype and the buildup here.
English

@Da7_Tech No need to look at it as a competition. Two titanic films from two iconic directors. All that matters is that we live in a world where they both get to exist.
English

@Hatrik_Swayze I feel ya. The issue is that Dune has the three week IMAX exclusivity window that was established way before Avengers chose that date. So ironically it’s Marvel that has the flexibility to move if they wanted, not Dune.
English

@Ruleof2Review Disney isn't budging from a Christmas release. Dune could move to the 25th or a week before.
English

@calcran4401 Well they actually have an out here. Dune was shot entirely with IMAX cameras in conjunction with IMAX. So their exclusivity window in Dec can’t be changed. Avengers doesn’t have that so they’re the ones with the flexibility.
English

@Ruleof2Review Disney would never because that would be admitting they have the lesser product lol
English

@Ruleof2Review I never ever watched a Dune movie don’t get them tried to watch the trailer just weird
English

@ReadyOrRobert Right! With you 100%. Dune was shot entirely with IMAX cameras so it deserves its three week window and that’s why I think it should keep its date. If Avengers moved to Nov. it could get some IMAX screens. Frustrating but at least it’ll have other PLF screens.
English

@Ruleof2Review Unfortunately, this isn't like the fun Oppenheimer and Barbie opening. It's just pitting two big sci fi movies next to each other. Could move it up to early November to get the IMAX screens. I want to watch both in IMAX and Doomsday won't get one even though it's shot in IMAX!
