@synblinkerfluid Go for it! You put in the work, there’s love there and clear consideration, and once enough testing and verification is done to where you’re satisfied with consistency, that’s not an unreasonable ask for such a specific part.

@SPDeezNuts I’ve priced out almost everything and there’s only like a couple things I still have to price out which is steel plate cut by someone and powder coating. Other than that, if I could sell my assembly for $400, I think I could still make a small profit off of it.

I have the ability to manufacture a direct replacement fuel pump assembly for Mk2 Volkswagens and people keep telling me there is not enough of a market even though Mk3 conversions are getting difficult to find parts for and original swirl tanks are disintegrating from age.

@synblinkerfluid Some like to try and gouge a person because of scarcity, but grassroots forum dwellers offer alternatives at a loss and do shit out of their own home, like with E36 OBC restos. It’s a dying breed and anything to keep classics on the road is worth it imo, you’re selling passion!

@synblinkerfluid It’s always a good case to be considerate of the person who needs the part, but the balance of costs to cover raw material, R&D and manufacturing with QC is tough. I think if the a person needs a part and there aren’t many other alternatives, they’d be willing to pay for it.

Works for me. I came to get paid and do a good job, not to socialize. Never really integrate into company culture and I still get big raises each year because of my performance. If anyone has to talk to me, it’s because I have to fix their fuckups, so my presence reduces errors.

@BreadedNeds I’ve baked lenses off before, but I didn’t even bother with the Z4’s. Rebuilt the internals with scrap parts, got really intimate with a rotary polisher, UV clear and yellow laminx. I am not paying 2k for original euro xenons for a 21 year old BMW. I’d sooner convert to halogen.

@Sxlvce I honestly wish for the LCI, they didn’t change the headlight shape. Pre-LCI headlights with LCI bumpers and kidneys would look really good I believe.
