Sure, if you conflate honoring and remembering the victims of a brutal massacre with making “political statements.” Also, your man completely walked back on his prior support for this memorial —crosswalk included. BTW: Pennsylvania is a long way away from what happened here—just saying. #beblessed

Smith, called the action “vandalism” and accused the state of insulting victims’ families, while Orlando’s mayor said the city’s commitment to honoring the 49 lost “can never be erased.” Governor DeSantis moved to ensure Florida’s roads and crosswalks remain uniform, clearly marked, and free from distractions in the name of safety. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy backed this approach with a national directive, stressing that roads are for safety, not politics. Orlando has countless other ways to honor the victims of the Pulse tragedy without turning taxpayer-funded roadways into political statements.

We are devastated to learn that overnight the state painted over the Pulse Memorial crosswalk on Orange Avenue. But we know that while this crosswalk has been removed, Orlando's commitment to honoring the 49 can never be erased.
