May 3: "Project Freedom" announced as a humanitarian operation, not military. Monday: US Navy escorts neutral commercial ships through Hormuz under freedom of navigation rights. If Iran fires on it: that is Iran starting a new conflict. Trump is responding defensively, not attacking. No new War Powers clock starts because the US did not initiate hostilities. Iran did.

This means 1) Having the international vessels agree to being escorted by US navy which is high risk 2) Navigating the hormuz without triggering the uncleared mines. 3) Hoping Iran does not retaliate and allows safe passage without warfare or tolls. Meaning this looks like a set up for the US to escalate tensions under the cover or humanitarian aid and self defense from any Iran attacks in the strait. Iran is forced to make a decision that either admits defeat and gives up their edge (let US guide ships through peacefully) Or continuing to fight for their faith, defend their edge and combat against US/ Israel.
