At this point, the outcome with Bricks & Minifigs is secondary as far as I'm concerned. The more infuriating and ominous facet of this story is the blatant misconduct of the @afpolice that has been recorded -- on their own bodycams and by others -- in connection with this case. Their behavior throughout has been that of a private security force rather than an impartial tax-supported public police department. Their egregious conduct needs to be investigated by the @UtahAG, and possibly by federal authorities.

There is more to the story behind the reason why the Stargate show on Amazon was cancelled. The original greenlighters at Amazon, Nick Pepper and Matt King, who liked Martin Gero's work that respected the Stargate lore, have been moved, let go, or restructured under a new Amazon MGM studio leadership. Under the new leadership with Peter Friedlander, who is an ex-Netflix head of U.S. and Canada scripted division, and Blair Fetter, a Netflix vet who ran “spectacle series”, they shifted focus towards maximum broad and global appeal for expensive worldbuilding shows. They want more shows like Stranger Things, 3 Body Problem, Ozark, etc, which were massive hits, and any new shows must have broad appeal, where they must convincingly bring in new viewers, not just satisfy existing fans. There is an age-old saying... A product made for everyone is made for no one. These execs don't understand that their success came during a time of a massive global crisis, and pretty much any decent show gets massive ratings due to the forcibly captive audience. COVID really gassed up a lot of execs into thinking they are geniuses when the reality is that these numbers were never going to be repeated again. What this will likely do is cause Amazon to burn massive amounts of funds for "modern audience-wide appeal" flops that interest no one and offend no one. And yet, even under this new regime, it is still greenlighting more of Rings of Power despite its underperformance. The chase for "inoffensive broad appeal" is going to bite them in the butt. The sad part is... a lore-accurate Stargate show was in the works, but because it didn't have enough modern audience broad appeal, they axed it under the new leadership. Joe Mallozzi, a long-time SG1 showrunner said, "It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family.” By all accounts, it sounded like it would have been a good show, but we'll never see it... not at least from the "new" Amazon.

Not to keep banging the drum on the Stargate cancellation but if a franchise had enough viewership to warrant 17 SEASONS!!! Maybe a new Stargate show by @martingero and @BaronDestructo and the rest of the team is a good idea! Maybe we trust the experts.

I’m surprised that Californians bother to continue to vote given that the results are predetermined by Democrat cheating.

Amazon axing the new STARGATE series because it was supposedly too niche is such a frustrating executive decision. This is STARGATE. The original movie launched in 1994. STARGATE SG-1 ran for 10 seasons. STARGATE ATLANTIS ran for five more. Fans have kept this franchise alive for decades. Martin Gero, who wrote on SG-1 and ATLANTIS, was developing the new series. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi were consulting producers. People who understood the franchise were involved. And Amazon apparently got nervous that the show would appeal too much to STARGATE fans. That is insane. Die-hard fans are not the problem. They are the bridge. They tell friends to watch. They explain the premise. They build word of mouth before casual audiences ever show up. Studios keep wanting legacy IP without the people who actually love it. But that “baggage” is the audience. STARGATE does not need to be sanded down for everyone. It needs to be good enough that fans bring everyone else in.

Don’t get mad at the slow California vote count. Remember, they have to count all the Republican votes first… so they can figure out exactly how many Democrat votes they need to “find.”

The Expanse went through this with Syfy and the fan backlash was so great, they managed to be picked up by #Amazon and continue the series for another 3 seasons. If the fan backlash is big enough, they will listen. Get #Stargate trending, let #Amazon know how you feel.
