Parliamentary questions must do more than criticise. They must force answers, extract commitments, and keep pressure on to act against failing contractors delaying vital water projects. I've included the response of Minister Majodina so you can get an example of responses.

I haven't been a Johannesburg Ward Councillor since 2016. But hopefully with the planned and ongoing upgrades to the Commando system (including reservoirs and pump stations) this should be resolved by year end.

The supply area has increased by around 120% in number of residents (student accommodation etc) in the last 15 years But still CoJ approve densification projects

Since then, although the supply was restored, the system is just so constrained that they are struggling to restore supply while balancing all the various supply areas. These situations most badly affect vulnerable areas like yours. Long term projects will eventually help. But not anytime soon. Either supply needs to be increased or other areas need to be throttled to feed more supply to restore Commando which could lead to other areas running out.

My understanding is that after a short power failure on Wednesday at Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch water treatment works, there was additional pressure on the Eikenhof pump station including the Commando system that feeds you.
