@dan_chism @bestplayeratlas I’m a 1600 OTB, but I do play on the computer too. It’s not a debate. Standard Chess is a 2D game, which is why it can be played on a flat screen (like you mentioned) without rule changes. The pieces being 3D has no bearing.

Of course the board and pieces are 3D, every physical object is 3D, but the game is 2D. Again, this isn’t an opinion, this is fact.

Every physical object in our world is 3D, that does not change the fact that chess is played in 2 dimensions.
