@BoringBiz_ Place reasonable limits on the interest rates/terms these loans are allowed to charge and put caps on total accrual amount. I don’t have any issue with ensuring people are paying their debts. But the Gov shouldn’t be facilitating long-term predatory lending instruments.

Student loans are doing unrepairable damage to the financial future of the younger generation Not proposing that we use taxpayer money to bail out these folks, but what is the realistic solution here? Some of these people will never earn a wage that makes these loans payable

@ItsMattsLaw There’s a family law firm billboard on my commute that’s tagline is something to the tune of “From I do, to I don’t want to do this anymore…” [includes the obligatory arms crossed attorney pic of course].

One of my issues with the “but were bringing manufacturing back to America” rhetoric used as a rebuttal to growing concerns about a weakening labor market (aside from regressing knowledge-workers back to widget makers), is that this is the majority of the “jobs” created 🤖🫡🫥

@ConLawWarrior Are you saying that the Founders should have anticipated every specific potential agency the country would ever need and written them into the constitution? Seems like having some flexibility is a feature not a bug. Also Arent those powers already limited by Pres veto & SCOTUS?

1. Does the Constitution establish a govt of enumerated and therefore limited powers? 2. If Congress creates an agency not plausibly authorized by the Constitution—say, the agency for deporting all left-handed people—can the president unilaterally dismantle it? Yes and yes.

@USNA_73 @memcculloch Seems like the potential of this theoretical use case may be increased due to recent advances in quantum computing? I’m admittedly a casual observer, not scientifically-literate enough to make substantive predictions. But it’s fascinating & todays science = yesterdays magic

@memcculloch Intriguing question. FTL communications are a must for human expansion into the cosmos. I always wondered if you could use entangled particles to communicate information instantaneously regardless of physical distance.

As I said in my recent book, section 11.3, #QI suggests that there is a lot of Unruh-based faster-than-light information exchange that we were unaware of. How to tune in? Detect/broadcast Unruh waves. The first detection was done recently (Lynch). Is ET already chatting this way?

@molly0xFFF Not for nothing, but it’s telling that we’re not seeing anyone call John Roberts a DEI hire, even though he also voted with the more liberal Justices on this matter… I wonder why 🤔

@molly0xFFF It’s the same as the attitude shift towards Amy Coney Barrett, with people on the right calling her “compromised” and a “DEI hire” because she didn’t rule in Trump’s favor earlier this week. Was obviously an expectation of reciprocity with that appointment.

@ZebWeyrick @AaronParnas B/c the level of authority given to Doge/Elon by the President makes a strong case that he should have only been appointed with the “Advice and Consent of the Senate” as per Art. II of the U.S. Constitution… As well as Pres T’s lawyers stating otherwise in official court docs

an idea for paid plans: your $20 plus subscription converts to credits you can use across features like deep research, o1, gpt-4.5, sora, etc. no fixed limits per feature and you choose what you want; if you run out of credits you can buy more. what do you think? good/bad?
