A new device created in the lab of Dr. Stavros Thomopoulos mimics the gripping power of python teeth to strengthen rotator cuff repairs  💪 In a new paper published today in @ScienceAdvances, the team reported that utilizing the device almost doubled tendon-to-bone repair strength, reducing the risk of tendon tear post-surgery. A research team led by @ColumbiaBME @thehunglab and @NadeenChahine has been awarded nearly a $39 million contract from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (@ARPA_H) to build living knee replacements from biomaterials and human stem cells, including a patient’s own cells. In collaboration with @ColumbiaMed, the award will support more than two decades of collaborative musculoskeletal research at Columbia, providing a transformative solution for millions of people in the U.S. suffering from osteoarthritis. 📣Congratulations!
