Congrats to @UMPhysiology PhD Student Kathryn Buscher and collaborators in the @yatrikshahlab for her first author paper in @scisignal showing that glucose and downstream GlcNAC maintains STAT3 activation and contributes to colorectal cancer tumor growth.

New research from fellow Prarthana Dalal and the @YatrikShahLab in @UMPhysiology discovered that combining a HIF2alpha inhibitor with statins can suppress colorectal cancer tumor growth and cause cancer cell death via ferroptosis. doi.org/10.1186/s40170…

Congrats to @UMPhysiology and #MSTP PhD student Crystal Young for defending her dissertation last week. Working in the Arvan lab, Crystal studied how complete loss of thyroglobulin leads to thyroid cell death, but recycyle iodinated tyrosine can be used to make thyroid hormone.
