The problem of adopting this kind of framing is it’s difficult to know when you should stay and press through because something is difficult, or leave because it’s not aligned. And easy to pretend it’s the latter, to yourself. The better framework is to be open minded in your decision making but committed once you decide, for a pre-determined period of time. Can be three months, or three years depending on the decision. If you made the wrong one? Take the exit - comfortable you know you gave it your all.

@nonregemesse The fact people argue about this baffles me. This is surface knowledge in medieval history. It takes very little research to find out that the eggs were more valuable than the meat of the chicken so clearly they wouldn't be eating the chicken unless they had plenty of money.

A lot of people are mad about this but it’s true. A chicken was a luxury for a medieval peasant. Probably about the same as real wagyu steak today.

@KingVelesI In western Europe it was seen as very undesirable. Either you were so fucking poor you had to eat your horse (which were very expensive) or it was a really fucking old horse, and you didn't want to eat it at that point.

Why is horse meat so taboo to many people, especially in America? Humans have raised horses for meat ever since they first domesticated them, back in the late Stone Age. Where I'm from (Croatia), many farmers raise meat horses and export them to Italy, where horse meat is very popular.

It just separates - events supported by multiple independent sources from claims that only appear within the tradition making the claim. That’s the distinction you keep sidestepping when we look at independent, external evidence.
