What's one of your favorite Allman Brothers Band songs? 🎶 Remembering Dickey Betts, who co-founded the Allman Brothers Band in 1969 and was a constant member throughout 2 breakups and reunions until 2020, when he left after years of health issues. Betts was an essential member of the band and wrote or co-wrote many of their most popular songs, including "Ramblin' Man" & "Blue Sky." Betts also formed the band's Dickey Betts & Great Southern & Dickey Betts Band. Betts, who started playing ukulele at the age of five and moved on to mandolin, banjo, and eventually guitar, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Allman Brothers in 1995. He died on April 18, 2024, from cancer & complications of COPD.
