@CMPiagentini “It takes a village” is not an excuse. It is an acknowledgment. An acknowledgment that while good parents are vital, life is complex. Illness, poverty, trauma, absence — these things happen. And when they do, the village matters. The best communities do not shame. They surround.

I wholly reject this “it takes a village” nonsense as an excuse for crappy parenting. It takes 2 good parents. Add a grandparent or two or an aunt and uncle. That’s it. All of the well parented people I know needed almost exclusively two good parents.

Childress was apprehended because an anonymous caller in #LouWestEnd saw him with a mask allegedly by a dollar store. The mask gave @LMPD reason to stop him. Turns out he was someone who shouldn't have a gun. But this standard wasn't applied to neo-Nazis breaking the same law.
