Who gives a shit about Ukrainian history? The Dontsi-Zakharzhevski estate was a two-story building that served as a key historical, architectural, and cultural site in the Kharkiv region. THAT’S IT! THATS all it was. It only real value was being known for surviving the tumultuous events of the 20th century, including both World War I and World War II, as well as the Soviet era, which often saw the destruction of such landmarks. People admired it because it wasn’t knocked down in previous wars. Nobody historic slept there. Nobody notable used it as a home or base of operation, or as a hospital for war injured. It just lucked out at not being destroyed in previous wars. WELL, its luck has run out. Boo hoo. Now some wealthy politician is gonna have to go use their stolen money to buy another mansion.
