🇹🇷🇪🇸 Turkey and Spain are in talks over a potential sale of Turkey's KAAN, a 5th generation stealth fighter jet. Spain dropped its F-35 plans, its European FCAS program is delayed until the 2040s, and its air force needs modern stealth capability now. Turkey's KAAN fills that gap. Spain already bought 30 Turkish Hürjet trainer jets for €2.6 billion, so this relationship has precedent. Why it matters: if finalised, KAAN becomes the first Turkish 5th-gen fighter sold to a NATO and EU member state.

How Many Countries in the World Can Produce Such a System Domestically?
Producing a system at this level a fully integrated, mobile, high-power radar electronic attack (jamming + deception) system capable of neutralizing fighter jet radars at long range for SEAD/A2/AD missions is extremely difficult. It requires DRFM, AESA antennas, real-time signal processing, and deep integration expertise.
Only 4-5 countries can fully and independently produce it:
• United States — Airborne systems like the EA-18G Growler + advanced ground-based EW (Next Generation Jammer, etc.). The absolute leader.
• Russia — Krasukha-4 series (300 km+ range, targets AWACS and aircraft radars), Borisoglebsk-2, etc. One of the most experienced and widely used.
• China — Airborne systems like J-16D + powerful ground-based platforms. Rapidly closing the gap.
• Israel — Advanced airborne/ground EW pods and systems (Sky Shield, etc.). Famous for operational mastery.
• Türkiye — With KORAL AD, we have officially joined this elite club! 100% indigenous, ASELSAN signature, field-tested (with real experience from Syria and Libya). No longer “import-dependent,” now a power with strong export potential.
