@SelectOneNow @KPapetti That's fine, you do you. There's plenty of defense optional hockey out there. But I like a team that can actually forecheck and also score.

@UNC_LL @KPapetti People often forget that the NHL is a business. There's so much competition for entertainment. NHL like every other business has to continously adapt or get left behind. I like a two-way game. But rather watch and offensive game than hard defensive trap hockey.

@SelectOneNow @KPapetti Solid 2-way hockey isn't defensive shell hockey but don't take my word for it. Now, in fairness, some of these will shift after all teams get in game 2 but would argue there's some offense happening in the Metro bracket. They just don't play defense optional hockey.

@UNC_LL @KPapetti I don't know much about NBA. Know they have higher tv ratings than NHL. Amd NHL ratings got better once they pushed for more offense. The worse ratings was through the dreadful defensive dead puck era. Real snooze fest to watch.

@SelectOneNow @KPapetti People who need the game to be manipulated into a cookie cutter formula because they have a short attention span & don't value a well rounded 2 way game are boring. Just go watch a tiktok of the goals and let people who actually enjoy more than one type of hockey watch the game.

@UNC_LL @KPapetti Doesn't the NBA have much higher TV ratings? Remember when the dead puck era almost killed the league? Offensive hockey is a better product to watch both in person and on the TV. It's why all the leagues promote it. They even make rules to help offence.

@AnvilJosh @CaniacChic I expect it if they left before the game was over intentionally. But after the Canes Win announcement, I don't blame people for not noticing. It's not like they walked out with time left in the clock. They just didn't hang around after what they thought was the end of a game.

If everyone including the team & coaching staff assume Ullmark is a problem when really he's standing on his head preventing 9 goals a game, that feels logical? Their team is playing well. Canes are just better imo.

@AnvilJosh @CaniacChic If everyone waits out the traffic, it will never be reduced. I hear you & stayed for the game last night because we noticed but don't blame people who wanted to get out of the building & thought the game was over. The simple way to prevent this is to announce the review quickly.

Why is Carolina’s arena so empty in double overtime of a playoff game?

@BFW @speedgoalie Nah, I am super sensitive to crappy click bait content though and the overwhelming amount of it in sports coverage vs actual analysis or insight.

@StaceyR15148744 @RLtwenty2 @FrankieBorrelli Some Sens players even went toward tunnel before skating back. We saw it because we were stuck getting out for awhile. Fans caught some people before they got out but the lowers, esp near center ice have a straight shot to the exit. Couldn't get back in once left.

@RLtwenty2 @FrankieBorrelli No so- Not sure if you have ever been to a NHL game. 2 things gave it away- 1) Ottawa players never left bench or ice. 2) all the officials over at the scoring box, and 1 more thing- scoreboard never changed.

How did half the arena empty out in Carolina? The review was right after the goal.. and they’re not letting the people back in? Insane.

@RLtwenty2 @FrankieBorrelli This. We only noticed because we had to wait a long time to get out of our row. It happened during a reg season game too. Thought we had an OT loss and didn't realize it was called back and we actually won until we got home. I don't know why there is no announcement.

I don’t know how it played out on tv but in the arena there was no sense anything was under review, it was a goal celebration lights flashing team celebrating etc. half the people got up and left unless you turned around and looked you wouldn’t have known its under review. A lot of people left the arena then tried to come back in and couldn’t

@FrankieBorrelli They didn't announce there was a review though. Super loud arena. Song already played, win announced. You had to be looking to see the players weren't leaving. We almost left and just had to wait in our row long enough to notice what was happening. They should've announced.

@Djbobm66Robert @NHL Was there. Wasn't clear the game wasn't over until lots of people left. They announced the end of the game, played the music, half the Sens headed toward their exit tunnel. Only folks who had to wait awhile to get out of their row noticed there was a review. Once out no re-entry.

@NHL Can you send a telegraph to the Carolina people to let them know there is playoff hockey in their barn. Never seen that many empty seats for an OT. Isnt it only like 11:30pm in Raleigh?
