I think it's important to learn about different cultures to better understand the needs of my students. @Angel3Urbina @DMartinez5200 @WrightMath314 @joboaler @MrsGallardo1 That's the problem, its not the right way. Of course there are math facts that students need to know, for example addition. We need to teach our students to be flexible. 6x4 shouldn't just be 24.

@WrightMath314 @joboaler @MrsGallardo1 The memorization of math facts is unnecessary/damaging because it doesn't allow our students to be flexible with numbers. They need to have a strong number sense to work with numbers. Memorization doesn't allow them to find multiple solutions by thinking of others ways to solve.

We need our students to have a good number sense and learn how to manipulate numbers. We shouldn't be creating the anxiety and then trying to help them overcome it. #EDEL5200

The past two weeks have been a while ride. I started the first 6 weeks of the school year teaching kindergarten. Then I got displaced and moved to 5th grade. Happy to have survived my first week in 5th grade!

I just wanted to shoutout @DrEddiesClass for being an amazing online professor. I've taken a lot of online classes but never one like his. You can tell all the effort he puts into the class to make sure his students understand. I really enjoyed EDTE 4200. You are appreciated.
