When the wellspring of gratitude runs dry, hearts drift apart, & the delicate threads of connection fray. But where appreciation blossoms, love deepens its roots, humility ascends, & bonds, forged in grace, endure far beyond the fleeting grasp of expectation." — ©️ E M Bless’On I

Not every hero wears a cape! These are the stories of people, especially black men, you don't hear the media blast on news all day. The media and politicians sensationalise bad press to sow mistrust among us, but we know our communities and THE TRUTH - amazing people exist! 💯❤️

AFRICAN & BLACK HISTORY
AFRICAN & BLACK HISTORY@AfricanArchives·
Septimius Severus was Rome’s first African emperor who ruled from 193 to 211 CE. Born in Leptis Magna in present-day Libya, Severus came from a prominent North African family of Punic and Roman heritage. At a time when the Roman Empire stretched across three continents, his rise from the African province of Africa Proconsularis to the imperial throne demonstrated the diverse nature of Rome’s elite. After the assassination of Emperor Pertinax in 193 CE, the empire plunged into chaos during what became known as the Year of the Five Emperors. Septimius Severus, then a powerful general commanding Roman legions along the Danube, marched his troops to Rome and successfully seized power, becoming emperor. Once in control, Severus strengthened the Roman military, increased soldiers’ pay, and reorganized the army to secure loyalty and stability across the empire. His reign was marked by several military campaigns, including victories in the East against the Parthian Empire, where Roman forces captured the city of Ctesiphon. Severus also expanded Roman influence in Britain, personally leading campaigns north of Hadrian's Wall in an attempt to subdue tribes in modern-day Scotland. Beyond military reforms, he founded the Severan dynasty, which continued through his sons Caracalla and Geta, shaping Roman politics for years after his death. Septimius Severus died in 211 CE in York, Britain, while still campaigning with his army. His famous advice to his sons before his death was recorded as: "Be harmonious, enrich the soldiers, and scorn all other men."

Stacey Sharples’s false allegations of rape destroyed lives. Ten innocent men were arrested, jailed in custody & branded rapists. Had she succeeded, they would have gone to prison for years. Sharples has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years. But if her lies had secured convictions, the men she accused would have faced sentences many times longer. Justice would have meant parity: a false accuser should face the same punishment their victims would have received had the lie prevailed. For years we have been told false allegations are vanishingly rare — a narrative repeated endlessly after the disastrous Operation Midland investigation. Former Norfolk Chief Constable Simon Bailey claimed they amounted to just 0.1%. That figure has always been implausible. Sir Richard Henriques, who investigated the scandal, placed the figure far higher — closer to 10%, and even that may be conservative. When lives can be destroyed on the basis of untested claims, the stakes could not be higher. The police must investigate allegations thoroughly — but they must also recognise that malicious false accusers exist. Until the system accepts that reality, innocent people will remain at risk. @FACTukorg
