This is pure lunacy. Have you not been on campuses since the spring of ‘24? Just this week NYC Cuty Council is moving a bill creating a buffer zone so you can’t protest on campus.

@billwanjohi I don't think it would move the needle for her, but the first person I saw get arrested, when the cops started lunging for us, is a trans man. My friend was there with his street medic kit because he was afraid someone would get hurt when the police cleared the encampment.

I was arrested for protesting during spring '24. Two of my fellow protestors were only acquitted last week, nearly two years after. Protesters at my campus had wrists broken by cops and had their civil rights violated in jail. Others were indefinitely suspended. Under Biden(1/3)

Mr. Esper, 47 of us spent the night in jail. Due to time, place, and manner policies, you cannot in fact get "protest permits" at most institutions of higher education. But I will make sure I pass along your insights to my colleagues who have already attempted civil litigation.

this is a combination of BS'ing and moral cowardice. You can get a protest permit and follow the rules and you won't get arrested (and if you do, you can sue). Or you can go to jail as civil disobedience!

Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.

Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

1/ Today, we filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board over @propublica management’s unilateral implementation of an AI policy without first bargaining with our union. Of note, the policy provides no job protections to our members.
