As we celebrate the monumental 1 MILLION appointments milestone, we’re taking a moment to look back at where it all began. To kick things off, our Co-Founder and Chief Executive, Ed Mead, reflects on the early days, the graft, and what he’s most proud of today. Q: What was the first big goal or vision for the company? Ed: The initial goal was to provide a kind of temp weekend viewing service for estate agents. I knew from my time at Douglas & Gordon that we had one person in on a Saturday, and their diary was full on the previous Monday afternoon. Q: Any funny or memorable moments while building the company? Ed: It took three months to do our first 100 appointments. We used to get friends to ring up their kids at universities all over the UK and pay them to open doors. We’d even make donations to local churches if vicars would open doors for us. There’s nothing we wouldn’t try. Q: Looking back on the journey to 1 million, what are you most proud of? Ed: Mainly clients sticking with us - no big client has ever left! That, alongside the fact that we give so much incidental employment and enjoyment to thousands of Viewber members. Speaking of clients sticking around, we now serve 15,000+ clients across the UK, which means we have more clients than there are villages in Britain! 🏘️ From those early days of doing whatever it took to get the business off the ground, to an extraordinary nationwide network, thank you to everyone who has trusted us to do business for them. Does the number of photos in an online listing actually impact a property's asking price? It is often said that a picture can paint a thousand words, and recent research suggests it may also help boost a home's value. Data from London lettings and estate agent Benham and Reeves has revealed a stark disparity in asking prices depending on how extensively a property is marketed. An analysis of current for-sale listings across England highlighted some interesting trends: 🔹 Homes marketed with four photos or fewer carry an average asking price of £200,000. 🔹 Properties featuring five or more images are listed at an average of £280,000. 🔹 This represents a price gap of £80,000 on average. The difference is even more pronounced in areas like the South West, where homes with limited photography are priced nearly 93% lower than those with extensive marketing. Did you know the average property transaction now takes over 17 weeks to complete? A new report reveals that the instruction-to-completion time has stretched to 123 days, an 18% increase since 2019. This is a far cry from the 6.78 weeks consumers say would be their ideal timeframe from SSTC to completion. So, what's causing these delays, and what can be done about them? The research points to a few key areas: ⏰ 42% of conveyancers cite transaction timescales as their biggest frustration, followed by workload (35%). 🏠 A massive 89% of sellers would instruct a conveyancer before listing if it resulted in a faster sale. 💻 78% of law firms now use AI to support fee earners, and 39% agree that digitising additional processes would increase productivity.
