Dr. Chris Baryomusi said that the government is going to provide lunch to medical interns. Well, it's good that they now recognize that interns deserve something. However, medical interns need more than lunch. They need: 1. Breakfast 2. Lunch (which is being provided) 3. Dinner 4. Transport 5. Airtime 6. Clothes 7. Rent 8. General upkeep, among other necessities. They are not slaves. They need money to survive, support their families, send some to their girlfriends, and occasionally unwind and forget the stress of hospital work with a bottle of whiskey. Give them money. #PayAllMedicalInterns

@adolf2003uganda Even you’d feel demotivated if your colleagues are getting paid for the same work you are doing at zero wage. In private universities it’s too much to pay for a medical course. But i guess we can protest against this. It won’t surely work out.

Minister of Health proposing that Government sponsored students will continue to be facilitated by the government throughout their internship program whereas private students will only get lunch from the hospital without a pay. This is the worst take I have ever seen in my entire life. Why segregate interns yet they all deliver the same services?? PAY ALL MEDICAL INTERNS.

Well put. I’m shocked that a medical doctor is suggesting that private students should not get a pay. These are people who sacrificed, perhaps they sold land or other assets to cater for their tuition at campus and now you’re saying you won’t pay them for the services they shall offer for 1 year while paying those who didn’t even a single coin at university?? What kind of reasoning is this??
