I am embarking on a two week stretch of many, many parties. I do not drink and so don’t really want to bring wine, but I hate showing up empty handed. What are good hostess gifts?

@qualityrye Probably/maybe if we hang on long enough real long-form criticism will have a resurgence. With prices as they are, it's dicey to go into restaurants trusting what's cool or new. Who pays for/how a company can finance criticism is the big question. And it long has been.

@qualityrye I don't think Eater ever wanted to delve into criticism, it was more about description of vibe, clever wording. This is the careful dance of not pissing off the advertisers! The Infatuation seems to me to prove ppl still like and yearn for criticism. Just not long-form maybe.

Pat McAfee has been drunk for like two hours, openly chugging beers, talking about getting high AF on his flight over, and is just sloppy on ESPN. I think it’s hilarious but man I bet a ton of folks are pissed, & I can’t imagine how mad folks who never made it on air at ESPN are.

I have been trying to warn every conservative man I know - these JD comments are activating women across all sides, including my most conservative Trump supporting friends.
These comments have caused real pain and are just innately unchristian.

@KELLYWEILL I freeze in 5 cup portions so I can defrost and have 2 large bowls of soup.

@KELLYWEILL Roast in olive oil on sheetpans with onions and bell peppers (you want a little caramelization so sometimes I broil a bit, then pull off tomato skins and blend and add to chicken broth plus herbs, to make amazing!!! tomato soup.
