Democratic candidate for governor Jermaine Johnson (@Dr_JLJohnson) tells me he will, in fact, be filing for governor on Monday after a surprise announcement last night at a Sumter meeting led some to believe he was dropping out of the race.

After hours of debate on the hemp bill today, it failed to advance on second reading, 25-15. A number of R's flipped their vote to no last minute. This came after robust discussion and narrow passage of an amendment requiring all drinks and gummies to be sold in liquor stores.

Yesterday, the Senate passed an appointments bill unanimously (40-0) that would effectively boot Dr. Ed Simmer May 14, and keep McMaster from re-appointing him. postandcourier.com/politics/sc-se… But shortly after, Sen. Jeff Graham (D) contested the bill - trying to stop/slow 3rd reading.
