I already debunked this SC “Democrat racial gerrymandering” myth this morning. We need elected officials to stop lying to our citizens. It’s one of the 10 Commandments after all — thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor…. 🤷🏽♂️

South Carolina’s voters elected strong Republican majorities in the State House and Senate to deliver fair, constitutional congressional maps that end Democrat racial gerrymandering and strengthen our conservative stronghold. The Senate’s refusal to advance these efforts today is a betrayal of the people of South Carolina and a direct defiance of President Trump's clear call to produce maps that honor the will of our voters and put America First. There is no time for hesitation or excuses. We must finish this redistricting work now, by any means necessary, to deliver representation rooted in the Constitution, not identity politics. I stand with conservatives across South Carolina and President Trump in leading this fight to end the rigged maps, eliminate racial gerrymandering, and maximize the conservative stronghold. @EdCSutton Republicans in South Carolina were forced to draw Clyburn a seat. All due to the Voting Rights Act. Democrats would sue Republicans for seats due to the VRA. Now thankfully the VRA has been gutted.

It’s perplexing why Senators in the Low Country would oppose a map that’s clearly better for their District. Under the new map, Charleston gains another MOC - Rep. Russell Fry - which majorly empowers Berkeley and Dorchester counties. Also Rep. Fry sits on key committees such as Energy & Commerce which are critical for that area. 🤷♀️

The SC Senate voted down concurrence with the House amended Sine Die resolution that would have allowed redistricting.
No redistricting.... for now (they will try to find another way).

I still support redrawing maps because the current maps, drawn by Republicans, do not reflect’ s SC statewide voting patterns. Nor do the newly proposed maps but I ain’t going to stop y’all from making a mistake.

Sir — you & other elected/appointed Democrats in Charleston County to the best of my knowledge— have defended Charleston County Libraries keeping pornographic books shelved in the SAME SECTION in the SAME AISLE as young CHILDRENS books!

But it is not an 86% Republican state.
Voters average roughly 56% Republican and 44% Democrat in recent statewide races, yet our congressional delegation is 6 Republicans and 1 Democrat.
That 30-point gap is the problem. We need fair maps, not a last-minute power grab.

Gerrymandering is wrong no matter who does it or wherever it occurs.
But help me understand how you expect a state like VT to draw a GOP district when they only have 1 congressional seat?
Now why am I focused on SC....... because that's the state I serve and vote in.

SC Republicans have to realize that if they draw a 7-0 map, 1) their state would effectively have no say in Congress when Dems have a majority, and 2) Dems would axe SC from the early primary calendar, effectively ending the state's influence in presidential primaries.

Post and Courier: Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey (R) has concerns over the newly proposed congressional map. Massey says drawing out the lone Democrat in South Carolina could be bad for the state.

It didn’t matter who was in the White House, SC was always at the table.
In the 21st century, Clyburn has carried the torch for SC during D admins. Lots of big wins.
Not having a federally elected D will hurt SC going forward.
