I am humbled by the support of more than 545,000 New Yorkers in last week's primary. This is just the beginning of our expanding coalition to make New York City affordable. And we will do it together.

Our campaign is centered on an economic agenda to lower costs and make life easier for the working people of our city. And we can fund our entire agenda by asking the wealthiest New Yorkers and most profitable corporations to pay just a little bit more in taxes.

The arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil—a green card holder whose wife is eight months pregnant—is a blatant assault on the First Amendment and a sign of advancing authoritarianism under Trump. He must be released now.
