The @SFGiants have a long history of supporting our large & vibrant LGBTQ community, even when it hasn’t always been popular. It’s one of the many reasons I’m proud of the team. That storied history makes it even more troubling that the Giants are now accepting ads from Chick-fil-A — a virulently homophobic business — & disturbing that some players used last night’s Giants Pride Night as an opportunity to display a bible verse about rainbows that is frequently used by right wing Christians to “take back” the rainbow from LGBTQ people. Last night wasn’t just Pride Night. It was also the 10th anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub massacre, when 49 people were mass murdered. To be clear, these players could have cited the rainbow bible verse on any of the other 364 days of the year. Instead, they chose to cite it only on Pride Night & only in connection with the rainbow Giants logo celebrating our LGBTQ community. There’s only one explanation for that choice — a choice the Giants tolerated. It’s hard to envision the Giants tolerating this kind of behavior directed at any other community. The Giants can & must do better.

You know, I would be willing to listen to an argument that "Epstein class" is simply referring to Epstein's relationship with other opulently wealthy people that believed their wealth precluded them from the law and that him being Jewish has nothing to do with it. @Zaphod2042 @AdamMilstein Durham is pretty good. there’s not many Jews here (~60) but we get along well and do weekly friday nights. i’ve had a few issues but it’s way better than other unis for antisemitism so overall im happy. i’m not surprised re Brum tho. it’s got a small Jewish community for a reason

@Zaphod2042 @AdamMilstein 100%. i live in Durham for uni but every time i go home in the holidays there’s a tangible increase in the Met’s presence. horrifying that it’s come to this, but i do find the patrols reassuring

@asherhilll @AdamMilstein Indeed. Saw similar when the Kosher Kingdom warehouse burnt down. For all their flaws, the Met have been pretty good at increasing patrols and presence in NW London.

@Zaphod2042 @AdamMilstein absolutely, i’m very thankful that it wasn’t much worse. and i agree that it would help to have a public statement soon to ease the community’s fears. we are definitely under significant threat, but we need to approach that threat pragmatically and not jump to conclusions!

@asherhilll @AdamMilstein Frankly a miracle no one was injured or worse. Hopefully the fire brigade will make their report public ASAP. Just worried that our community is at the risk of being overwhelmed with paranoia (despite the very real threats).

Doesn't change the fact there's a markedly different demographic around where this warehouse is, which is almost entirely not Jewish. At least for half a century. I'd wait to see an investigation.
