BREAKING: Iranian General just sent this message to the Iranian people:
"Prepare and be at the highest state of readiness, for the United States and Israel will attack Iran by land in the coming hours. It seems that a U.S. ground attack on Iran is imminent."
Seems the 'negotiations' aren't going well unfortunately.
@IAPuntReturner@SKMJohnson@TeachHoopsBBall Exactly what we talk about amongst coaches and about the MSHSL… all they or these programs care about is $$$… more tournaments all year, more player, more money. Regardless of skill.
@beave2010@SKMJohnson@TeachHoopsBBall I have ZERO issues with "kids getting opportunities to play", which club vball provides.
Problem is some (not all) of these programs are taking ANY & EVERY kid b/c they see $$$ & there are kids who don't even get on the court at their HS, but they're playing club.
The number of girls playing high school basketball is a crisis no one is talking about.
Programs are drying up. Teams can barely fill their rosters.
We can't grow this game if we can't get kids to believe it's worth their time.
What are programs doing to fix this?
Gen Z graduates pursuing "AI-proof" careers like education, biology, and pharmacy are experiencing low early-career salaries, with many earning less than $50,000 annually, per YF.
@beave2010@unusual_whales Jeremy, can you promise me you will remember this conversation in 5 years? 10 years? 25 years?
I can appreciate your background in education. This conversation is more geared towards AI.
Based on your responses, I assume you are not familiar with AI.
@beave2010@unusual_whales i'm asking what AI you use, and how often you use it. is your contention than an individualized AI model working hands-on with a student wouldn't outperform your average teacher with 20 students to wrangle? not sure why you brought up covid.
@ThiccQuidity@unusual_whales We all saw what happened with “distance learning” during COVID… was horrible learning environment for kids, we are finally seeing improvements years later after that crap show.
@iluvwisdom@amktparticipant@unusual_whales Exactly, we all saw what happened with “distance learning” during COVID… was horrible learning environment for kids, we are finally seeing improvements years later after that crap show.
@amktparticipant@unusual_whales It is interesting that what was good for most adults is now not good for the younger generation. Studies are showing that kids learn better with actual human interaction. Kids that learn from computers don't learn so well. The top private schools are ditching online learning.
@unusual_whales education is only "AI-proof" in the sense that you're legally required to go to school.
the worst AI would likely outperform the best teacher in existence today.
Research is clear: the most effective way to reduce chronic absenteeism is simple—contact parents immediately, every time a student is absent. Yet too few schools do it. Why?
@beave2010@SKMJohnson@TeachHoopsBBall Believe me I've been to enough club volleyball tournaments the last 6 yrs that it's so watered down now. It used to be the top players, now it's anyone who pays to be on a team.
There are kids on some club volleyball teams that shouldn't be & they wouldn't last on a Bball court.
@SKMJohnson@beave2010@TeachHoopsBBall At the level this post is talking about, volleyball is absolutely easier...hell, even professionally its easier. Theres more skills needed in basketball to be successful
@SKMJohnson@TeachHoopsBBall I’m speaking of first hand. Never once said girls aren’t athletic, my main point is that you have to be more skilled to be successful in basketball. Volleyball overall is viewed more recreational… unless you’re going D1, which is only for top 2%.
@SKMJohnson@TeachHoopsBBall Sports in general, on why there’s 40 girls on a volleyball team that can only play 6 at a time vs only getting a dozen to play basketball to field a team of 5. Also, you have no idea the sports I’ve been in or my career lol 😂. So that’s just laughable. I’m witnessing the things
